Where can I get laundry tablets?

BCV23, where are you? I am in Naperville, like Goldi. I really think there would be a market for these, so sad they are hard to find. Before our last trip I found a mini box of Tide at a Target in Bolingbrook. It was the last box on the shelf!!! It did 4 loads. I would have bought a hundred boxes if they had had them

Ian and Kim, thank you both for the continuing research. This board is great!

I'm thinking Peapod may be the way to go. There were some stores in the Chicago area on the Tide site but I don't think I'm fanatical enough to drive around just for the laundry tabs. But then again, maybe I am!

Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news BCV23, but I'm in Chicago too and checked out Peapod last night. They're not carrying it anymore.

:faint: Oh, no.... Thanks for the news anyway!

laceemouse, sent you a pm.

Since I haven't been able to find them in a few years, we have just been taking a small bottle of liquid. I save the same small bottle and refill it as necessary for trips.
Target carries a line called Method that comes in a small bottle that works well.

I guess now I know, if I run across the tablets anywhere to stock up. They would be better for airline travel.

Thank you DaveT1 and Ian! I live in a western suburb of Chicago. Yesterday, I drove to an Osco on Pulaski and bought the Purex Tabs. They still had 5-6 boxes left. The Osco is on Pulaski about 1.5-2 miles north of 55. So, if any of you in the Chicago area take 55 into the city, this one is not too far off. We just joined DVC last year and we'll probably go 1-2 x year so I thought it was worth the drive.

Sylvia,

Wow, you drove quite a ways. How did you know they carried them in that particular Osco? It might be worth it for me to start looking in the ones around here.

Thatone on Pulaski would be pretty far for me. I'm on the northside around 4500 north and 2500 west.

Ian, I did the search using the link that DaveT1 provided for Purex and it listed that Osco as the closest to me. I was a little hesitant b/c I wasn't familiar with that area, but DH thought I'd be ok (I grew up very sheltered) and he was playing video games and my little boys were napping. Since I took 55, it took me only 20 minutes to get home. Actually, it took me longer to get there b/c I was stopped by a freight train that was moving so slow, I could walk faster, and after about 10 minutes, it STOPPED! Thank goodness for the navigation system in my car. I turned around and got back on 55 to Cicero and went around it. If you ever go to Midway Airport, this Osco isn't too far away.

I didn't see your post until this morning, otherwise, I would have gone to a Walgreen's that has the Tide b/c I was sort of headed to that area today. Good luck.

You are very lucky!! I did that search, and it showed me "no stores within a 90 mile radius", and then it wouldn't let me search anymore. The Tide website told me there was ONE Walgreens in the Phx area that carried the tabs, and when I called the store...the girl started laughing at me!! She said they haven't carried those in YEARS.

I think I am going to Sears tomorrow!!

Beca

BJs Wholesale Club in Wey. MA has Tide bucket with tablets. There are (I think) 112 tablets, spot stain remover & the bucket they come in for $14.99.

Christmas Tree Shops....

My local store had both Laundry and DishWasher Tabs.. Name brand for like $1.99 a box..

Give it a try... they have EVERYTHING .

Tide tablets are no longer on sale, check out Tide.com - I believe the only mfg that makes tablet is Purex and I get them at Shaws or Stars in the northeast.

They are perfect for travelling! Last sale, was buy one box, get one free, so I brought home 14 boxes! I'm an optimistic dreamer! :smooth:

I looked everywhere for laundry tabs and I can't find them in my area anymore. I bought a small bottle of liquid tide at target in the trial size section for .99 cents. It did 4 or 5 loads.

I got them yesterday at BJ's Wholesale Club. The container is deceiving it looks like something that would contain powder. You can easily open it as it is not "sealed" there is a box of Tablets inside along with the stain/spot remover.

I saved one of those small plastic canisters that Oxy Clean laundry additive comes in. The top seems to be pretty tight. I fill the canister with with powdered detergent and throw it and a scoop into a Ziplock bag, "just in case". Haven't had a problem yet and the canister holds plenty for our trips!

.... I've only read the OT. I've just been amazed that a thread about laundry tablets has remained on page one for a week. That's all. Maybe it will make it two weeks.

Laundry tabs make travel soooo much easier....that's why the thread is so popular. I don't know who first thought of them, but kudos to you, whoever you are.

Can't find any tablets in MN either, I loved them! Target does have a mini jug of liquid Tide (3-4 loads) for $.99.

I have looked for the tablets for 3 years now and cannot find them anywhere!
On another laundry thread here at the DISboards this product was recommended - WashEZE 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets. They contain both detergent and fabric softener and an anti-static product and can follow your load of laundry from washer to dryer. About 15 sheets in a package for $4.99.
