I have no idea what these are called but I saw them in the sports dept. at Walmart about a month ago. Went there yesterday and they no longer have them. You put them around your neck to cool off. Does anyone know what these are called and where I can get them? :sunny:

sorry, I bought the Walmarts one, called Coldeze. Did you ask a clerk at Walmart, they had to direct me where to find them, it was by the tennis balls and stuff.

I have seen a product on QVC that you put in water and soak then you tie it wherever and it is supposed to last a few hours. There is some kind of beads or something that soaks up the water and holds onto the water. I don't remember what the name was or the price, but I don't think they were expensive. You might want to go to their website and see if you can get more info. Sorry I don't have the details!!! :goodvibes

I purchased a few on ebay at very reasonable prices. Try searching 'neck coolers' or 'miracool'. Good luck.

I got mine on Ebay about a month ago. Don't remember the sellers name. They were one dollar plus shipping. They work by soaking them in cold water 30 mins. before you go out. They do keep you cool but in the summer months @Disney it will only last an hour before the cool off.

Yes, QVC has them but I'm not sure what they are called. My DM bought a few for our upcoming trip.

We've found them at sporting goods stores like Academy or Oshmans. Use them for WDW, mowing the lawn... etc

If you nare even slightly handy, you can make your own. Use a strip of fabric at least 42" long and 3 or 4 inches wide. Sew it into a tube. Sew it into 2 or 3 or 4 chambers, filling each pocket with 1/8 tsp. of Watersorb crystals. You should be able to get them at Walmart in the garden department. These crystals are usually put into plants. They absorb about 200 times their weight in water, so be very careful not to fill the pockets too much, because these crystals swell a lot. Sew up the pockets. Hydrate by soaking in water for at least 30 minutes. You can refrigerate the neck koolers if you wish. It can be soaked over and over if you wish. Store in a zip lock bag in the fridge, or hang to dry.

I understand that these can also be heated in the microwave if you need a hot pack.

A note of caution, you may be thinking of adding more crystals, thinking more is better. If you add too much, you will have trouble bending it to go around your neck when it is hydrated. Also, it turens into kind of a jelly and will ooze out if it is too full.

I also made my own. If you google "ccol ties" you should get nice directions on a couple of the sites. I got Mickey Mouse fabric at Wal-Mart for mine!

I found they helped for a long time, even after they were no longer cool.
Just flip over the side next to your neck, I swear it still feels colder. The idea is evaporation, not coldness. I saw a lot of them a few weeks ago in WDW.

I made them also, i just typed "neck coolers" in Google and got lots of sites with instructions. I couldn't find Mickey material but did find lime green with cool surfer dudes on it! I even sold a few for gas $ since we are driving!
