This prices seem so much higher than other lnes? Any where to get one for less?

The spread between Disney and , say RCCL / Carnival / Celebrity / NCL is widening. With only two ships and only one that does 7-day cruises... plus a fabulous product.... DCL can seemingly support the difference. For us, however, the spread is becoming too much. As our kids get older, other opportunities seem more attractive. While not all products are the same, there are times when DCL is twice others .. case in point --- Summer 2005 Mexican Riviera...

Until supply exceeds demand, don't expect DCL to come back to the pack on price.. As a shareholder, I don't want them to... As a disney-cruise-aholic, it would be nice to be more comparable.

Try Dreams Unlimited and Allseasons Travel. I currently have one booked from each of these agencies - both offered me the best price for the particular cruise I booked. I just got a great deal from All Seasons Travel , http://www.allseastravel.com, for the Dec 17, 2005 Magic Western - got price quotes from 5 different agencies and they beat all of them by several hundred dollars.

Last January I booked the 3 day Magic for this Dec 16 through Dreams Unlimited (they are a sponsor of this site so you'll find links on this board to them) and got a great rate.

It just requires shopping around and as other posters mention, start early as prices can go up quickly. I noticed the cruise I booked through All Seasons last week, for the Dec 2005 Magic, has gone up this week by 100.00 - that means more people are booking that particular sailing so prices are rising.

I booked my recent cruise almost a year in advance through Costco's Travel. I have a membership to the warehouse. They came in cheaper that anyone we tried. We were very happy with our rate!

also, cruise prices vary by time of year - and week to week. But your family situation may dictate when you can go. I do think that for younger kids, the DCL is the best - have been on Royal Caribbean as well - but the Disney characters, the kids' clubs, the shows - are great (assuming your child would want to participate). If your child doesn't want to participate, then, the DCL is good but not, in my estimation, that much better than say Royal Caribbean give the price differences. Now, certainly, many adults enjoy the Disney atmosphere, the lack of a casino, the Disney shows and as such, that makes the cost difference acceptable. I liked the rotating through the different dining rooms - but on the new ships of other cruise lines, there are more dining options than in the past (copying no doubt from Disney, I suspect). So, what is important is to learn about what the various cruise lines have to offer - Castaway Cay is a great beach day on Disney - better than other lines private islands, but if you're not interested in a beach day, then that is no benefit to you. Smaller cruise ships often go to less crowded ports of call. But smaller ships may not have as many activites on board for all ages as Disney or Royal Caribbean. I think it especially true with Disney that advance planning and thought into what you want to do - the Passporter Guide is a terrific book on the Disney ships - and of course this board is most helpful.

Those are two words that do not go together -

"Disney" and "Cheap" ::yes::
