Hi all!
DD and myself both recieved new digital cameras for Christmas, yet still haven't been able to use them since we don't have memory cards... I'm clueless in this area and I'm not sure even what kind to get, so I thought someone here may be able to help... My impression right now is that we both need to buy an SD card, and they cost about $20 a piece...the thought of putting $40 out on top of everything else I need to buy for our upcoming trip is making me cringe!!! Any tips on where I can find them cheaper?

In case you need more info... Mine is a Polaroid 8 mp camera, hers is a kodak easyshare 9.2 mp... what types of cards do we need? I don't really need to have the camera be able to hold millions of pics...200 would be more than enough since we plan on downloading to the computer...

Any help would be great!

What size SD card are we talking? You can get them for less than $20. We've gotten them at sales for around $10 for a decent size card. Check sale ads. WalMart and Best Buy usually put them on sale.

Wait til Sunday. Check out the sales ads. I brought one a few months ago at Office Depot for 10 bucks. It was a 2g card. I can use any brand in my Kodak, but not a HD card. Just a plain and simple card will do.

Office Depot has 2gb SD cards for 7.99 everyday.

Newegg.com always has great prices on SD cards. The last ones we ordered were around $4. Shipping is usually pretty cheap too.

Newegg is a good place. RiteAid has 2gb cards for $8 this coming week. I think that's after a mail in rebate, though.

I bought one at Target for 9 bucks it was a 1 gig..but it was also one you could convert to put in a Cell Phone.

KMart has had them on sale all week. Today is the last day. I bought a pk. of 2- 2GB SD cards for 14.99.

Typically it says right on the box the camera came in what kind of card you'll need. If not, the owner's manual would certainly tell you.

Many cameras come with a small built in memory that you can use to experiment with until you get the card.

My camera broke just before vacation last year and I quickly ordered another. It arrived just a couple of days before our trip. The one thing I didn't think about was that the new better camera used more memory per picture than the old one. I had to buy more memory in Canada, and paid a premium price for it. Better to have more than you think you'll ever need as cheap as it is now in the US.

Do you plan on using your cameras for lots of short videos? They take up more space.

The 4GB SDHC card from officemax for $9.99 is a good buy.

There are two types of SD card be sure to not get the SDHC if your camera is SDHC compatible.

Big Lots has a 4 gig SDHC $10

Walgreen's, surprisingly. But do compare the Sunday ad prices for Staples, Office Depot, Target, Walmart, CVS etc.

I think some stores might be using these cards as loss leaders to get people into the store.
