I have seen many Japanese pins on the auctions sites, but like any other auction, prices can vary widely.
I have traded many times with Japanese pinpals. If you check out the trade board on dizpins.com, you will see many posts from Japanese members. They usually put their wants and trades right in the post, but most use pinpics as well. If you post a message with a title like "Looking for Japan Pins," you will surely receive responses from some of them.
I was a little leary at first of trading with Japanese members. I wondered about mail problems, language barriers, etiquette, etc.

But now, a year later, and with
numerous successful Japanese trades behind me, I have to say it's been great!
My family likes character pins and some of the Japanese pins, IMHO, are incredible. We have laughed (and I bet my japanese pin partner did too!) at some of the emails.

A little bit of patience was sometimes needed to sort through the more complicated proposals and counter offers.

But, in the end, every one of my trades worked out. I have even developed a somewhat regular relationship with one japanese pinpal who supplies my DS#2 with the monthly Donald pins from the JDS Celebration series!
If you have any more questions about international trading, I'm sure there are board members who can help with answers.
Good luck!
