Where can I buy disney MP3s for making a slideshow of photos?

I have some Disney CDs that I bought, but I can't get the files to work with the movie maker programs I have. They will only accept MP3s. I can't find ANY place online to buy MP3s of disney songs? ! Why is that?

What do you all do? I know I am not the only one making a photo slide show?!

I use iTunes with my computer and you can import CDs into mp3 format. Then I would think your movie or slideshow program could use them. ITunes is a free download from Apple. All you need to do is go into the settings and then change the import from AAC to mp3. I hope that helps.

There are many good (and free) mp3 encoders. LAME is one of the best, even at any price.
If you have a CD/DVD burner it probably came with some software to encode mp3 files from a CD.

iTunes is probably the easiest option for you. Download it from apple.com, install it, and before you put the CD in for the first time to convert it to MP3s do this:



Edit->Preferences
Select the Advanced tab
Select the Importing tab

Change "Import using" to "MP3 Encoder"
Change "Setting" to "High Quality"

iTunes is generally preset to encode to AAC, Apple's own format whichn your movie software might not recognize.

I think the problem is the protection on "Disney" songs. I have bought the MP3s, I did change the setting first, and they still came over as the Apple file. Then when I go to tchange to MP3 it says that these protected files cannot be converted.

I got the same response when I bought the songs from Walmart.com and then tried to use a program to switch them from WMA files.
It is VERY annoying!!!

So, now I think I am in need of a different program to make my slideshow ... one that accepts these A or WMA files!

I don't know if you are using free software of some kind as I haven't looked into slideshow software, but if you have to pay for it, it may be cheaper to buy the Disney CD's and convert them to mp3.

I was reading this like you have the CDs. If so, then this should not be very complicated. You can even use Windows Media Player to rip a CD to MP3.

That's funny, I missed the part where the OP said they have CD's to begin with. Yeah, if you have them, you can make MP3's from them no problem. I think I use real player. I haven't done it in quite awhile.

I thought that they were just buying the songs individually. Itunes and WalMart are tough to get into mp3 format. Not that it can't be done, but I think the legality of that comes into play. Maybe not.

If you bought the song from Itunes, Burn it to a disk, then re import it as an mp3.... That should work.

You can't, to my knowledge, by Disney MP3s. When I make slideshows with Disney songs, I use MP3s that I have ripped from CDs. There ara about 2 gazillion programs for making MP3s from CDs. It looks like LAME, iTunes, Media Player, and Real Player have already been mentioned. A quick google search can probably find the other 1.999 gazillion. MP3 converters are about as common online as pictures of Britney Spear's backside and they sound much better.

How about trying different slideshow software. I downloaded one for free from Microsoft called Photostory. I ripped .wma files from some old Radio Disney CDs I had. Photostory is easy to learn.

When I got my computer 4 years ago, it came with Microsoft Movie Maker and it can make a slideshow too with wma files.

Google has a slideshow feature through Picassa, but it only accepts .mp3 files

The only problem I had was converting the slideshow to DVD (It played great on the computer in Media player). I don't have a DVD burner, so a friend burned a DVD for me. Good luck

If you want something all-in-one and easy to use, CDex is a free download and uses the LAME encoder to do high-quality MP3s. If you are very picky and don't mind a little extra work, Exact Audio Copy and a standalone version of LAME are the way to go. Both can be set to access the FreeDB database, which means that if someone has entered that CD's info in the past (very likely), it will automatically fill information about it like artist and track titles.

I wouldn't touch itunes for a variety of reasons, but that's just me. (A big one being that it wants to run all the time - no thanks.)
