Where can I buy a *REAL* Louis Vuitton bag?

They wrapped it up so nicely that I didn't want to take it out!

I've been thinking about getting a LV for a while now, but can't bring myself to buy one because there are SO MANY FAKES! SO I buy my real Coaches (which are beautiful purses also) and make do. LOL

I know this will sound really strange, but I'm actually glad they're so many fake LVs out there, because I'm never nervous about taking mine on the subway or anywhere else. Except for those that really know their bags, most folks just assume mine's a fake also, which is fine by me - nobody wants to steal it. I know it's real, I take it everywhere and love it and that's really all that matters to me.

Totally agree! I think you can't beat the Leathers that Coach use. They always have that rich leather smell and are supple and soft.

I have the LV/Alma bag and it's my least favourite of all. I find it rigid and just not a comfy bag to carry. And for what it cost, the interior is ugly. I can only imagine the true cost of these bags to make!!

Thank you! I needed to hear that. I have worried I wouldn't like LV because they seem so "stiff". I have a Dooney bag that is beautiful, but not comfortable to carry so I hardly ever use it. One more reason not to spend so much money on a LV.

I have the Alma bag and I love it. Mine's not rigid or stiff at all.
Of course, I had terrible luck with a $350 Coach bag that had to be sent back 6 times in the course of 2 years because it kept breaking. They finally discontinued the model. So, everyone's personal experience will affect how they feel about certain brand. I still love their leather gloves, though.

Well then you are fortunate because my friend also has it and complains of exactly the same thing!

Keep hoping it will soften up...but more than a year later it hasn't:confused3

The Drouot is such a cute bag Jadenlyn...its a hard to find one too...its not that available anymore.
LV prices go up 5% min EVERY year.

I had the Alma in multilcolor white and sold it almost as fast as I bought it. I didn't care for how big and rigid it was. I was in heavan to get it though...thats when the Murakami multicolor just came out and I waitlisted for a month to get it. :cutie:

Could we PLEASE PLEASE keep this thread about LV purses and no debates. I love the bags and love to talk to anyone who will listen about purses...especially LV. Who really cares what others spend their money on...don't judge just because you don't agree.
Lets not debate real/fake or the fact they are so expensive. Lets not judge and just have a fun post for LV girlies.
The Coach thread has managed to last...lets see if this on can. :goodvibes

Sure do, here ya go! It measures 9 x 9 and I wear it across my body as opposed to over my shoulder. It's not too big and it's not too small, it's just right.

I love that bag! Unfortunately, I have to drive to Atlanta now to shop at LV, and I also now have a daughter that's a bag hound too, so...........

Oh wow, stereotype much?:confused3 The poster to which you are referring never once said anything derogatory towards you.:sad2:

Wha? Did I say she did? What on earth are you talking about?

I loves the internets! Lots of misunderstandings.

You sound like my dad:lmao: :rotfl: The "internets":lmao:

He also calls Wal Mart-"Wal-Marts"

And for the record, you said NOTHING stereotypical.

Eh, she said something about us being in totally different worlds and I forget the exact wording, but it came off a little judgemental. No big deal though.

I wasn't going to say anything but I have to. :)

I first want to say that I also want an award for reading this whole thread. :thumbsup2

E.P. I understand most of the points you have spoken about. The thing is even if you are trying to not come off as snobby and stuck-up, you kind of are! Sorry! You keep saying how you were raised in this affluent area with men who can even pick out fake purses (DH laughed at that one) and that you can't imagine ever buying a fake and then mentioning way more than once about your extensive "real" handbag collection.

I don't know you, you may be a very real person. But I think the reason people are getting defensive is because even though you state you're not trying to sound snobby , sorry you are. How you say. Because people I know who have it don't go around flaunting or advertising that they have it.

I may be way off base but more than once I sat here shaking my head at alot of these comments. Alot of us, back in our college days, like you at 21, could also buy "real" designer bags and I did. Not as many as you, but a couple. Heck I even spent $1500.00 on a Super Bowl ticket. Even though you didn't right out and say it, it does seem like you look down on people who don't buy "real", As someone else said, people have their reasons for not buying a real LV or Kate Spade. (Spate, :lmao: ) . I think about it now and no way could I even think of getting a real LV. Now that I'm a SAHM with 2 kids thats a luxury we can't afford anymore.

You have alot more financial freedom than alot of people on this board. Even though you are in college you have no real financial responsibility, like children, mortgage and such. I say do it while you can because in 10 years you may be like some of us and not be able to anymore. Its fun to be able to buy expensive stuff and not look back. I just hope that you realize not all people who carry fakes are trying to portray an image that they can afford it when they can't. I have a real Kate Spade that my mom bought me when I was pregnant. I used it as a diaper bag. Loved that! And DH bought me a Coach for Christmas. But I do have a fake LV. it looks pretty close to my cousins real one when we put them together. You may be able to spot it, we couldn't.

But I do have my reasons for not buying a real LV, its called dance lessons, baseball, school tuition, a mortgage. I can go on and on.

Have fun while you can! :)

Ah, yet another person who hasn't read all of my posts and replies.

I have said, previously in this thread, that I understand that when I have kids and have responsibilities that I will be spending my money on other things, such as clothing my children and saving up for vacations, etc. I brought that point up myself before anyone else did.

I also said that not ALL people are trying to portray an image, and I gave my reasons for hating fakes, the image thing was one of them.

I don't go around flaunting that I have it, but if a discussion comes up about real or fakes...I'm going to chime in, since it's something that I'm interested in or care about. Never have I started a thread on this board ABOUT handbags. I'm not going to lie and pretend I'm not knowledgeable about the subject though. If you consider that bragging, that's fine, but I'm not going to sit back on a subject that I have extensive knowledge of and pretend that I don't know what I'm talking about. If I presented my case without stating that I had a bunch of handbags, people would just assume that I was making things up and had no idea what I was talking about. It's a lose-lose situation :)

And for the record, I have had boyfriends who can pick out a real and a fake designer item. One of those boyfriends owns about 14 wallets, all of designer nature. I never said it was normal, and quite frankly, it's a little creepy to even me. Have you ever seen Growing Up Gotti? It might sound ridiculous, but until you see people like that in real life, you would never imagine that they truely exist.

It doesn't seem like any other online places carry LV bags, just all other designers. I've only seen them on eluxury.com, but I was looking to compare prices with other sites. I just can't find ANY. Does anyone else know some?

The only place where you can buy the real ones for a discount, are the tax free shops at the (European) airports!

OK, now I've read the whole thread. And WOW! You people are amazing!

And again, it's not a crime to PURCHASE the purses, just to sell them. I'm pretty sure US law does not apply to the folks in the country DH will (possibly) be purchasing from. It IS a crime for DH to buy a bunch, bring them home, and me to sell them on eBay. It is NOT a crime for him to buy one for me.

Well, make sure not to come to Belgium, here it's also illegal to purchase them. When you come back from vacation in Turkey or so, customs will search through your bags. Whether it are fake LV purses or fake Ralph Lauren polo shirts, you'll get heavily fined if they find fake stuff!

I still think that the geniune market creates the need for a knock-off market. And who's to say that wealthy people can buy what they want, but the middle and lower class people can't?

Becuase, it seems to some of us, if there is NO difference, then why would one buy the knockoff?

Answer: Because they are trying to look like they have a Louis Vuitton, Coach, Gucci, Burberry, etc.

If they weren't doing it for the image, why not buy a no-name brand?

When I'm with my mom someplace, and she needs a purse, she'll buy the one within her budget an dthat fits her needs the most. She's completely clueless about brand names. I'm sure she doesn't know the difference between a Longchamp and a Louis Vuitton.

Also, when you're someplace, let's assume there are two purses: purse A is a fake LV, and purse B is just some regular no-brand bag. Both cost 20 $. I can assure you that both are made in the same place, so buying on or the other unfortunately won't change a thing about sweat shops.

As I said, since my mom is completely clueless about brand names, she'll buy the style that she likes most or that fits her needs the most.

Also, for those that feel cheated because they spend lots and lots of money for purses that everyone has, but fake ones: stop buying those scream-in-your-face bags like LV or Burberry. And buy yourself a nice Hermès or delvaux! ;)

Eh, she said something about us being in totally different worlds and I forget the exact wording, but it came off a little judgemental. No big deal though.

I said that we lived on different planets, and we do. You were the one that said where you grew up was a bubble and that the men knew a fake bag and everyone was materialistic. Where I live, men would be beaten for even uttering the words "fake Louis Vuitton" :lmao: You even just compared the people to those in a television show that's known for being shallow. Point is, we very much do live in different worlds.
And yes, you would probably laugh at me for making my own laundry soap, and I would laugh at you for buying it in a store. City mouse, country mouse. See?

Have you ever seen Growing Up Gotti? It might sound ridiculous, but until you see people like that in real life, you would never imagine that they truely exist.

And, once you realize people like that exsist, you should do your best to NEVER be like them. Growing Up Gotti:rotfl: What a train wreck!

I know you gave many other reasons WHY you hate fake bags. The truth is, you will be remembered for your very snobby::

"Personally, I don't think that people who can't afford the real things should buy the knockoff. Besides the fact that I believe that they're trying to project an image that they can afford something that they can't..."

and

"There is a designer handbag hierarchy..."

And your defense "Where I'm from, people are very aware of what people are wearing, or whether or not an item is fake. I'm not denying that it's shallow, but places like this do exist, and its what I've been surrounded by my whole life"

Again, if you know it (it being judging others by their bag) is shallow, why not change? Why do you want to be like those people? Bag lover or not, one of your reasons for hating fakes is that people try to look like they have money when they don't. Ouch.

You seem like a nice person:cloud9: You have remained calm throughout this discussion, even though it seems like many are targeting you (myself included). That is pretty neat. Mature. I like you just for that alone. But, I do think that you are caught up in that whole "I live on the Gotti Island" image. Believe me, even the VERY rich on LI are NOT sitting around wondering if the lady on the bus is carrying a fake bag. They just don't care. They have other worries. Other plights in life. I don't think you get that.

You will most likely look back and laugh at yourself in a few years;) I know I look back at my "college self" and think--What in the world was I thinking?!?!?:rotfl:

BTW-Is the private Boston college you speak of Northeastern? GREAT college!:cheer2:
