We are staying at the CSR. We are NOT going into the parks on July 4th. However, we will want to see some fireworks. Where would be the best fireworks (which park) and where would be our best viewing outside of the parks?

Since I've never been to WDW on the 4th before, I'm going to bump this back to page one so that one of veterans can answer your question.

Sorcery in the Sky!!!!!

They are only shown on special occasions. We saw them last 4th of July and they are hands down the BEST.

What is Sorcery in the Sky? Where is it? MGM? Is that the usual show they have there or is it a special one for the 4th??? Where would you go to see it outside of the parks?

Yes - Sorcery in the Skys is presented at MGM. It used to be the regular nightly firework show at MGM, but they stopped showing it when Fantasmic started. All the fireworks are choreographed to the music you hear at MGM. It is now only shown on "special" occasions. I don't think it's visible from outside of MGM.

Illuminations at Epcot is also out because there aren't any good views outside the park.

So by default, you're left with Fantasy in the Sky at MK. I've never been on the Fourth of July but I've heard it's spectacular - not the usual show. You should be able to see it from any of the monorail resort beaches. There's a great view from the California Grill, but they're having a $159 per person event that night. You could also try for a window table at Ohana's or Narcoosees if you want to do the dine/fireworks thing. Finally, you could try to join a fireworks cruise for either Illuminations or FitS. Fireworks cruises don't require park admission.

Oops, i forgot. Sometime in the past I read on this board that they checked resort ID's on the Fourth. Does anyone know if that's true? Would you have to be staying at one of the monorail resorts to enjoy the fireworks from the beach?

Ummmm..
You can see the Epcot fireworks from the
easternmost bridge over the lagoon
that the YC/BC Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin.
We've done that on a night that we were
really tired. You could probably park in the
Boardwalk lot if you say "you're going to
eat at the Boardwalk"...
The bridge I'm talking about connects
the YC/BC to the Boardwalk....

EC, beacase it's the biggest park, can
absorb an INCREDIBLE number of guests.
We've been in the park for the 4th and
while it's busy, its not impossible.
New Years' eve is much worse.
