where is everyone getting the 40% dining discount from?

Just curious...can you tell I am new to this?

The 40% off applied to the room rate - not dinning. There are numerous threads here on both the 40% room rate and speculation if free dinning will be offered again this year. Hope this answers your question.

Disney is currently marketing save 40% off by using the dining plan. It is not giving 40% off the dining plan but advertising that you can save up to 40% of your dining expenditures by using the plan.

What I make of this advertising is that Disney is saying - If you buy our dining plan for say around $40 a day - we figure that if you ate the same food and payed out of pocket it would cost you around $55.00 or more.

and having used the dining plan - I know this is a true fact - it would cost us way more than that to eat the way the dining plan let's us - gotta love trying all those great table service restaurants

I had booked a package without the dining plan. When I called with the code, I could get the 40% off the room, but only if I added the dining plan. It turned out to be a really good deal because the room discount paid for the dining plan and I wound up paying just slightly less for the package w/ the dining plan, than I'd had w/o it. So for me it was like getting free dining.

Laura, I am confused. Where do you get the code for 40% off the room if you also book dining? Is the code for you to use only when you book through Disney? We usually use AAA.
