For the half where do the WISHers meet up at in the morning? Yes, I'm trying to finally get organized and write all this stuff down. :surfweb:

When you get off the buses go to the baggage drop. Go through the baggage drop - you do not have to leave your bag right then if you don't want to - There should be a wall of porta potties that make a sort of inclosure. Look for a group of people in lime green. Beware that some other groups have stolen our lime green so look for WISH.

Come up and introduce yourself - this is important since we don't know many people by sight - You have to take the iniative and say "HEY! Here I am."

Alot of people are not very chatty on race morning. Its VERY early. Its dark. They have a HUGE task ahead of them. So it may be quiet. Of course, if I am around, I will chatter everyone's ear off.

Unless you are in wave 1, you will get to the start "holding" area a long time before the waves are called so you will have plenty of time to drop off your bag and stand in line for the portapotties. If you are in wave 1, you get sent to the corrals pretty early and you wait there forever. Be careful not to sit too clse to the speakers - they get extremely loud.

OK, I have no problem introducing myself. :hippie:

We are in wave 1, so exactly how early will they call us over? So they announce it over the speaker? So there is some order to this madness, not like ING where I couldn't get into my corral?

Perhaps someone else remembers exactly when. You will have plenty of time since you HAVE to get on a bus by 4AM.

This will seem like military precision compared to the chaos of last years ING - that was a mess!

They will announce it, the corrals are well marked, and they have people there to answer questions.

Awesome. I was looking at the pic last night of the corrals and wondering how in the world we'd get up to our corral. Glad to know it is more organized. :thumbsup2

Yes, I always go through the baggage check and then head to the far left so that I am as close as possible to the gate waiting for the time to head to the corrals - this way I end up as near the front of my corral as possible - I want every second of cushion possible. A pretty good size group of WISHers usually ends up in this waiting area!

Anyone who will be second-guessing themselves about saying hello. Please don't be shy!

Uuummm... errrrr.... I am one of the shy ones (maybe not here but there will be different) so I will go ahead and say Hi now to break the ice so I won't be as timid when the time comes. :rotfl:

Seriously though, I am very shy until I get to know you. Once I know you, you may wish I didn't. I will talk to you about anything that I think we may have in common. Here it is different. This is where we learn people but we don't see inadequicies(?) that we all live with. I have been working on getting over my shyness but with such a large crowd and my first BIG race, my palms will probably be so wet from nervousness that you could use them as the sauna back at the resort. (Sorry, that was a bad joke.)

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Bryan -

Its ok to be shy just remember that we won't recognize you. And if you are not wearing a WISH shirt, we might not even notice you.

The down side to this online group is that we don't know each other by face. Its hard to put names and faces together and even then most of us don't even use our real names!

You don't have to come up and speak to the whole group, just find someone standing or sitting near the batch of lime green shirts and introduce yourself to them as a WISH team member. Everyone is welcome.

You will be nervous. Thats normal. We will all be nervous. But its nice to have someone to sit with if you are up at 4am. The more the merrier.

Since I won't be with my DH at the start of the full like I am at every other race I will be more likely to come up and introduce myself since I am not going to wear my WISH shirt. At the Minnie 15k I didn't have to introduce myself since I wore my WISH shirt. Going out today for my last longer run (8-10 miles) and so after that I will know for sure what I will be wearing so I am easier identified. LOL

Good luck next weekend everyone!!

Yeah, but you'll have your hyper wonder twin attached to your
side so no worries my friend!

Thanks Cecilia. I am planning on forgoing my normal shyness this trip because I can't wait to put faces with all of these people that I talk too all the time online. And, of course as we have already found out, I will have Liz with me and she will stand up and shout for me if I start being too reserved.

Counting down the days and getting more and more excited.

Bryan - The first WISH meet I went to I got all the way to the restaurant and then tried to turn around and run, but DH refused to let me after I'd dragged him all the way to Downtown Disney from the park we'd been in! Once I did, I just kinda stood on the side, and pretty soon started talking to a couple of people, and before I knew it I felt part of this great group. I couldn't wait to go to the next meet.

Last year for the Half, I was terrified to do it all by myself, but DH left me at the bus and I rode bravely over to Epcot in my lime green shirt, confident that there would be a support group waiting for me, and there was! I knew almost none of them by face, but all of them by screen name. It is such an AWESOME experience!

See you in a week!

Jackie

I'm also a shy person too so you'll have some company Bryan! I'll have my WISH gear on so I won't have an opportunity to hide :)

Can I throw in one more question ... How long does the line take if I want to check my bag?
