I just moved to Cocoa and last month I started a job in Lake Mary-

The other day, while driving home from work, I saw 3 Disney Cruise buses headed North on 417, but they were North of 528, so that didn't make sense to me---that area doesn't seem to be on the route from WDW to Port Canaveral, and it's North of the Airport, so what's up with that?? I thought maybe it was a onetime thing--but this morning I was behind one and again, it was on 417N, but it was North of 528... I would have followed it, but I would have been late for work.

So does anyone have any idea where these buses were going?

FWIW, I *think* the one I saw this morning was empty, but I couldn't really tell..... :confused3

I read somewhere that the DCL buses are owned by Mears and that they use them as they see fit when DCL doesn't need them. I think it was in a Sentinel article last fall when a DCL bus caught fire.

Can someone confirm this?

The Disney Cruise Line busses are used all over Orlando for transportation by Mears when they are not used by Disney Cruise Line. When I was at student at the University of Central Florida the Marching Knights would use Mears transportation and frequently we would have Disney Cruise Line busses to take us to the football games at the Citrus Bowl and back to UCF. So you might see them anywhere throughout the Orlando area.

They are also used for Disney CM Fam Trips. A few years ago, I saw one driving down the main highway here in Hilton Head. I went back to my office and called my CM buddy at DVC and asked "Did I just see a DCL bus here on HH or was I just hallucinating?" He said nope, I was not, that DVC had brought some CM's to tour HH and the Disney Resort.

So, I guess you never know where they'll turn up...............

Anyone know what they are using while the Magic is in California for the summer? Are they getting new busses or driving some of ours out there?

I saw a DCL bus in Tallahassee last October outside a hotel near the University, I about crashed my rental car!

I attended a conference at the Marriott World Center Resort last August and we used Disney Cruise line buses to transport people from the conference to international drive....

We were at ChuckEChesse a couple of weeks ago. Next to the ChuckECheese is a miniture golf course and there was a Disney Cruise bus parked there and then we saw it drive away. It seemed so weird!

Oh no, not good...Then you would have had to hitch a ride on the bus...LOL!

hopefully that bus you hitched a ride on would take you on a cruise! lol. :rotfl:

that is too funny about the UCF band being the Marching Knights. I live in PA and the high school band is also called the Marching Knights.

What a small world it is

I was in Clearwater last year on Route 19 and saw the DCL buses....it brightened my whole Day!!!!

I actually called my family back home in NY (I was on a trip) from my cell phone and said...guess what I am looking at right now.....they laughed when I told them because they know how much I am hooked on DCL!!!!

A good friend of mine drives a DCL bus, and she has told me that Mears will not be driving out to California to handle the ground transportation for DCL on the Left Coast. Mears is a Florida operation and it would not be cost effective for them.

Disney has contracts with a bus company for transportation of guests from the the southern california airports to DL and CA....so I suspect they will use that company. Most of them are marked with Disney characters, but they aren't as fancy as the DCL buses.
We're headed to DL in June, we opted for the Blue Van transfer instead of the Bus, bit more expensive, but the buses make a lot of stops, and with 50 people all headed to different hotels, as opposed to 8 in the van, it takes a lot longer.

Look at all these Disers in my back yard.. never knew there were so many in the Orlando Area..
