Do you coordinate your family's outfits to match whether it's the same t-shirts, color or even themes?

I know in the past my family has matched 2-3 times in our 9 day trip and we also have a MK theme. This year however due to my BFF we are finding ourselves matching at least 5 days out of the 9 we'll be in WDW. It all started with the me and my BFF matching, then it spread to we should have a 'polo' day - so for me that meant getting new 'polos' for me, hubby, and our 2 DD's. Then BFF and I went shopping together and before you know it we were buying more matchy tops to wear throught the week. Now my poor sister and nephew who will be joining us mid week have been drug into this; but for them it's something their family does on a regular basis so other than shopping at the same store to find the same shirts my sister didn't have a problem.

This year's MK theme is 'Tinker Bell and her Fairy Friends". Our youngest(3.5) daughter will be our "Tink" and she has a Tink t-shirt, I made her a "Tink" tutu (thanks to this board) and she has tink flip-flops. The rest of us girls will represent another fairy, ie. I'm Irradessa, BFF is Slivermist, oldest daughter (10) is Fawn and my poor hubby who refused to be a fairy has a Peter Pan t-shirt. Now, all except the Tink t-shirt were hand made by me and on the back of each shirt including our Tink's the saying "None of the other fairies have SWAGGER like us". We can't wait to hear the comments from the other MK guest and we're hoping that when we go to meet Tink and the other fairies that we'll get some awsome pics.

We did it once, I made the Tie Dye Mickey t-shirts for all four of us.

We felt weird, all wearing them together, never did it again. We do have a nice picture of us in front of the castle being all matchy matchy, but that was enough.

Now the tie dye shirts are carefully packed so we DON'T match on any particular day :rotfl:

I think Disney is the one place where you can all wear matching stuff and not look silly! I see huge groups all the time wearing "reunion" shirts or "It's my B-day!" chirts, I've even seen families wearing matching bright yellow crocs.

Anyway, I love to use photopass and usually have a great amount of pics taken while at the world. Whenever we see a photopass photog...we stop and get our pic taken. The pic's where we at least coordinate certain colors or styles (striped polo's, Hawaiin print, everone in a shade of blue...etc etc) come out SOOO NICE! We choose our Holiday/Christmas card photos from these because they come out beautifully!

In front of the castle at MK,I think blues/aqua's look terriffic! At hollywood studios, bright reds/blues stand out. At Epcot, greens/yellows and Animal Kingdom, we usually oranges/earthy greens aor beiges(think safari colors) I love how they turn out!

PLUS---it's easier to find your loved ones in the crowd!

We'll be matching. It was DH's idea. I didn't tell him that he's not original for coming up with it. :)

We're doing 3 days at Disneyland and will have loud Hawaiian shirts and bright red or orange T-shirts with bleach-penned Mickey mouse shapes. It's an 11 day trip with 3 at Disney, so I need the clothes to work for the other days too!

We are matchy match!! Here are some of our pics :) Sometimes we wear the same colors, other times we buy matching shirts! Granted DS is young, and I am sure he will oppose this later on!

We do this now, too! A couple of years ago, we took a couple of shirts that matched just to see what we thought, and now, it's part of the fun of our planning!

We actually LOVE how easy it made things when it came to seeing a child who was starting to walk in the wrong direction and keeping us all together.

My husband thought he would hate it (definately NOT the type to enjoy such cutsie things), but he actually prefers it because it's so easy in every way!

We've made a lot of shirts thanks to the folks on the DISigns boards and their fun stuff over there!

Cuppy cake.. very cute! Did you use bleach on the yellow shirts, and then dye them?

I also meant to mention our shirts that have the cars on them (and we also have elephant ones, but pics are on my laptop which is not with me!) Are from threadless.com They have kids and adult sizes!

THANKS!! The yellow shirts (purchased at Michaels for $2.50 each) actually have iron ons that I printed out on my home printer....got them from one of the folks on DISigns. I would have to look it up to see who (it was a couple of years ago), but they have some GREAT stuff over there!! All free :)

Tinker-I was going to ask you how you did the tie-dye Mickey ones....with the black Mickey on the front?? Tye-dye the shirts first?? How did you add the Mickey?? I looooove them!!!

We match every day we go into the parks. And my guys are 15, 13.5, and 12(and their not small for their ages, that's for darned sure!). :dance3: This is the absolute ONLY time I'd ever get away with it, but, bless their manly hearts, they put up with Dude-Mom and her weird ways.

And you're right that the pictures always, always, ALWAYS come out beautiful with us in matching outfits (yeah, we even match our shorts).

This year, we're going with DS and her 3 cherubs (13, 12, 10) and DB and HIS 3 cherubs (13, 12, 9)... and we're still matching. ;)

Take care,
Rose

I don't match myself or Dh with my boys, but my boys are ALWAYS matchy match, not just at WDW. They are only 17 months apart, so I always buy them similar outfits at either Old Navy or The Children's Place. They never wear identical, just matchy. I am a little OCD about it, and it kinda drives my Dh nuts, but I love it. It is actually easy to find them at big play areas and pictures are always cute. I know I am weird. :rotfl:

For WDW each boy has a shirt for each day that I am making thanks to the disigners! Of course they kinda match each other too...

We are all going to match one day on this trip too...my Dh isn't thrilled, but he is doing it to make me happy. ;)

OH yes, I love the Disigns board!! We have done iron ons before also!

With the black MM Heads, I actually put the heads on first, mainly bc I was too scared I would mess them up after spending all of that time doing the spirals! So, I traced the MM shape onto the shirts, then I did a base stitch around the shape, cinched it together, and rubber banded it...then I mixed up some black dye that I found in WM's craft dept-- but made it pretty thick so it would not drip. I let the shirts sit for 24 hours, and then washed them alone of course! Then I touched up any mess ups with a bleach pen, washed again, then did the swirl pattern (and I actually used some of the left over black when I did that to make them more manly for DS and DBF).

I know it sounds complicated, so I am PMing an article I wrote that has pictures with instructions.. just keep in mind it is for regular MM tie dye, not for black!

If anyone else wants it, just send me a PM :flower3:

We definately try to match, we did on the cruise too. I love to do that- or we at least coordinate colors.
This was on the cruise- I don't have the picture I already scrapbooked it. It's DH/me/DD/nephew. Semi formal night.

we try and match our shirt. I think its cute but practical so i always now what my kids are wearing if they get lost. i would put picture on but have NO idea how to do it!!!:rotfl:

We match our shirts with designs from the creative disigns board. My hubby finally decided to agree when Iexplained we didn't need new clothes and that the kids wouldn't want to buy any shirts. I was hoping it would work and violia:wizard: It worked. The kids were so excited because everyone else wanted their shirts and they would tell them my mom made them with big smiles on their faces. I have to admit that even hubby was a little proud when asked about his shirt.

Yes, I made them and yes, I sell :) Thanks so much! I started sewing because of my addition for Disney custom clothes.
