Hello, I live in Houma. I leave on the 20th for our trip to Disney. Was not sure what would happen with hurricane Gustav, but I am back home now from evacuating for 8 days. I now need a real vacation so Disney here we come

Hello Thibodaux neighbor, rie'smom

YO-HO from Thibodaux!!! pirate:

Just got back from evacuation to Disney during Gussy!! Loved it!!

Hope everyone is doing well and safe!! Hoping to get power TODAY!!

Next trip is at Thanksgiving at SSR, then next July at AKV!!

We live in the Ville Platte area and have been to WDW in 1985, 1987, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2005, and stayed offsite in May 2008. We are returning to Fort Wilderness campground December 5-16,2008. The little bit that I post is on the Camping board which is our favorite place to stay at WDW. We just love getting away from all the concrete and heading to the woods which is extremely relaxing after a day at a park.

P.S. I also loved the top 10 list posted above!

Hey Thibodaux friends! I'm glad that I didn't get rid of DSL because I still can't connect through charter.
Boy, will I be happy to get to WDW on Nov. 19th. We all need some Fantasyland after Gustav!

Loved the "top 10"! We really could use a good laugh right now!

Just got back to Thibodaux from evacuating for Gustav, and Ike turned out our lights again last night. They're back on today, though.

I hope all our friends on the coast are dry tonight.

I need my WDW vacation NOW!!! :cool1: It's gonna be hard waiting until Mardi Gras.

Visited WDW during Gustav and had a great time. Came home and In-laws house flooded. They will be living with us until their house is fixed. After that I may need to go see Mickey again. But the trip was great, we saw alot of LSU fans while we were there. I am already dreaming of a future trip, and wishing I could join the DVC. Good luck to all other Louisiana folk during hurricane season. Hopefully Ike won't do anymore damage.

Any word on when the schools plan to make up the days missed....hopefully not during Mardi Gras because that will ruin many peoples vacation plans.:confused3

Some people but not me! I already told DH that if the school system plans to take days from Mardi Gras in 09 then DD will miss some days of school and they will have to get a sub to take over my class! LOL! I already have my non refundable plane tickets and I know this may be my last trip for a year or so, so I am not cancelling!! LOL!:rotfl2:

I don't know about everywhere else, but I know what the high schools in Terrebonne Parish are planning to do. Our high schools are on the 4x4 schedule, so the days have to be made up before we leave for Christmas break. We had 4 days in the schedule designated as make up days to begin with - 2 days at Fall Break and 2 days at the beginning of Christmas holidays (22 & 23). They are planning to take away our day off for Election Day. They are adding 16 minutes to our school day to make up time as well - 5 minutes from homeroom, lunch begins 4 minutes later and ends 7 minutes early. We were told that any other days that needed to made up from Ike will be deducted from Thanksgiving holidays. BESE has already said that there will be no waivers granted for days missed. It was alluded to that the elementary schools would not follow this schedule. We were told in so many words that the elementary and middle school would make up the days throughout the entire school year. This means it may be possible to see high schools out for the full Easter holidays while elementary and middle schools are in session. I am not certain about this though.

All I cared about was that my Mardi Gras and summer trips were not being messed with.

Just returned from Disney on Sept 6. Hubby is a LA state Trooper and we almost did not get to go because of Gustav. But we were able to. I live in Pineville and this was our second trip as a family we have one boy 5 and one girl 8. I am obsessed with Disney, maybe because I never got to go as a kid. I don't know when we will go back but hopefully not too far in the future. Hubby says never again during hurricane season, but that is when free dining is and the crowds are small. We will see. I will keep dreaming of Mickey and friends until then. OBTW we stayed at POP and I would suggest not getting a room facing the pool, but other than that it was great.

I noticed your signature and we must have our vacations planned on the same dates! We are going to Disney for Mardi Gras (Feb. 21 - 27) and again from May 30 to June 6. We'll be at BWV for Mardi Gras and BCV for the summer trip.

We'll be at the Dolphin May 29th and 30th. On the 31st, we're moving to the BWV.On the 5th, we going to the Royal Pacific at Universal. We're planning to leave on the 7th. If my daughter's cheer camp is later in June, I might add another week.

I haven't heard how the catholic schools are planning to make up the days yet. We're still going during Mardi Gras, no matter what. :wizard:
