Ok all hopefully you can help. We may be taking our nephews and niece who have never got to go anywhere fun in there life to Disney with us this next year. We have a 7, 5 and 2 y/o ourselves, this will add a 15, 13, and 11 y/o to our trip. Where should we stay with that many of us. Also $$ of course is always an obstacle.
I appreciate any help and advise given.
Thanks

With the number of people going, what about the new Animation resort? They have suites that may accomodate the family.

What a great aunt/uncle you are. I hope your whole family has a magical time. The boards will definately be a great help to you in your planning.

Unfortunately is says we exceed the limit.

None of the value suites or the Ft. Wilderness cabins will hold that many people. They peg out at 6. The OP needs to sleep 7 in beds plus a play n pack for the youngest.

OP, the least expensive route would be 2 connecting value rooms. This would give you a total of 4 double beds and 2 bathrooms, which would be (IMO) essential for a crew that big. Just make sure that you make the request for connecting, not adjoining rooms. They are never guaranteed, but I know they make a special effort for families with a lot of kids.

You could look at renting points for one of the larger DVC villas, but that would get really expensive.

to stay on a decent budget since you'll have 8 people I'd go for 2 Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation. It's a brand new resort and has fun looking pools. It's not much more for the standard room @ AoA vs any other value (I think it's only $10 more/night)

I would get two connecting AOA - Little Mermaid Rooms. I believe this will allow you to sleep 8. The resort is new and very themed. I believe two rooms may be priced lower than the family suites at AOA with more sleeping room and still has two bathrooms. However there is no kitchette. You can check out the pools at the Cars Section, and the Nemo Section as well as the Little Mermaid section. The arcade, gift shop, and food court look amazing.

Just so you know, if free dining were to be released in the future for your dates. AOA free dining will consist of quickservice dining plan which includes two Counter Service Meals a day with one snack per person per night of your stay. YOu can upgrade this to the regular dining plan (one Table Service Meal and one Counter service Meal plus snack per person, per day, for each night of stay)for an additional cost. If you decide to do this. Its usually costs only a little more to rent two rooms at a moderate resort under free dining because it comes with free regular dining plan at no additional cost.

:) Many folks get great deals on places at Bonnet Creek which is on property and uses their own bus system to the parks. David's rentals (a sponsor of the DIS) also helps folks stay in DVC villas on property. DVC villas (you would need a 2 bedroom) come with a full kitchen and laundry in the villa. A 2 br at Kidani at AKL has 3 bathrooms. There is a rent/trade board in the DVC forum and points usually run about $10. I think a Tree house villa is around 250 points so you would get 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen, washer and dryer--and be on Disney property. So that would be $2500 for the week. Definitely ask around on the budget board. I would also try to take them during free dining or with a PIN code if possible.

Other folks get vacation homes for much less--less than $1000 for the week with plenty of room.

I agree with jojo...free dinnng in a moderate would be good.

Thanks for all the advice and yeah I'm really hoping they come out with free dining that will help a lot. But you never know until it's released.

AoA! Two rooms at LM. Will sleep 8. You're a great aunt/uncle!! I'm sure everyone is going to have a blast!! :)

Oh, this sounds like such a fun trip. How nice of you to take your nephews and neice. I'm sure they will never forget this trip. I don't have any advice on where to stay, but just thought I'd let you know that if one of your nephews or neice required any medical care during the trip (let's hope not) it's neccessary for you to have a notarized note from the parent giving you permission to take the kids on the trip and giving you permission to take them for medical care if needed.

I travel to Disney alone with my grandson sometimes and always had a signed note from my daughter (his mom) but the one time I had to get medical care for him, the clinic near Disney refused to treat him because the signed permission note I had from my daughter was not notarized. We ended up having to go to Celebration Hospital where we stayed for the next eleven hours. It would have been so much shorter at the clinic. Didn't get back to the resort until 10:30 PM and never even made it into the parks our first day (but that's another story).

You can type up the note yourself and give it to the parent to sign and have it notarized. Better to be safe than sorry. I hope you have a wonderful, fun trip and that you won't need to use the note at all! :)

Consider renting DVC points, with 8 people you can get a 2 bedroom unit.

Points rent for about $12.00 per point, the 2 bedroom at the deluxe villas at OKW vary based on the time of year, averaging 200 point for a week or $2,400, or $343.00 per night.

If you can handle that cost........its well worth the price.

Have a great WDW vacation.

What do you mean Davids rental helps folks stay in DVC villas, is there a link or something?

This would be a great option but for me 8 in a 2-BR would be tight. Although still better than 2 adjoining Values and the price would be maybe slightly more, but would include the full kitchen.

If you google it you should find it -going through David's is "safer" but probably more expensive than renting directly from A DVC owner.

We have stayed there a number of times with 8.........not a problem at all.......the Master sleeps 2 the a hot tub,, the other bedroom sleeps 4 and the living room has a queen fold out. The unit has a full kitchen, 2 baths and a washer dryer and balcony!:thumbsup2

Tree house villas at SSR sleeps 9!

1 queen-size bed in the master bedroom
1 master bathroom with whirlpool tub
1 queen-size bed in the second bedroom
1 set of bunk beds in the third bedroom
1 queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room
1 sleeper chair in living room

Your young ones will really enjoy the bunk beds while there are larger beds for the older ones. The sleeper chair at was very, very comfortable for my DS when we stayed at Kidani.

Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Please if you can at all afford it......always stay on property, the Disney Magic is worth it over and over again!:thumbsup2

On-site stays are a whole lot easier! If you can swing it, I would get two connecting rooms at a value resort (Pop and AoA are the faves among the boards) It will be your cheapest option. Good luck

So do you all think that renting dvc would be cheaper or get 2 connecting rooms at a mod would be cheaper if free dining is available because if they offer free dining we always upgrade to deluxe.
