Put name tags on your kids gifts?

I saw the thread about the "found" name tags from santa, and thought about this.

Here, we buy both some stuff from mom & dad and some stuff from santa. The mom and dad stuff is put under the tree as it's wrapped- but with 2 different wrapping papers...no names....and they dont know whose wrapping paper is whose...but the tags are ready to be put on christmas eve after they go to bed, and they say from mom & dad

The santa stuff is wrapped again- 2 different papers with no tags...

Late christmas eve, when DH and I are ready for bed, we pull out all the gifts from under the tree- separate them into 2 piles, and get the santa gifts, and put them into the piles. When the DD's wake up in the morning, everything is in 2 piles- 1 for each of them...on separate sides of the tree..DH and my gifts are under the tree still.

Do you label em? or do you use different papers to tell em apart?

My mom use to put 2 different numbers on the corner of the gifts- but not 1 or 2, she'd put like 73 and 76 (dumb us those are the birth years) or something like that..we never knew whose was whose..kept from shaking/snooping LOL

I always wrap the "Santa" gifts for my boys in 2 different Santa wrapping papers. I also wrap their stocking stuffers in the same paper.

I use totally different paper for the gifts from us (Mom & Dad) but I label them and put them under the tree.

One year I did the separate wrapping paper for each person and no tags. It was nice because DS wasn't about to try to open gifts on the sly to see which gifts were his! I think I'll do it again next year since DD will be 4 and a lot more curious.

This year, everyone's gifts are wrapped with all kinds of different paper and they all have tags :)

We do it different. There are no Santa gifts, there are no gift from Mom & dad. It's just gifts. They have tags saying their names & they go under the tree. As soon as they are old enough to figure it out, they'll know I bought it all & wrapped it all. We don't really push the whole "Santa thing". Just for the youngest (3 yo). The older kids eventually figurted out on there own that there is no Santa. My dd (13) took it well, she really didn't care. My DS (9) wes devastated. I think they appreciate the gifts more when they know Mommy & Daddy worked hard & saved the money for Christmas. I guess I just do what my parents did. :)

Growing up my mom and dad would just write our names in black marker on the packages from Santa and thats exactly what I do now too for my 2 DD's. And they are all mixed up under the tree so they go through the gifts to find theirs.

My mom and dad just always gave Santa gifts only...none from "them"....and I never did find that odd. DH did and we do give like just 1 "big" thing from us....usually packed in a black garbage bag (this yr is TVs since we moved upstairs and they now have their own rooms)....last year were banana bikes and the year before was air hockey table.

For everyone else I NORMALLY use name tags....BUT this year I kept forgetting to buy them!!!!! I used sticky notes!!! LOL!!!!

I just can not wait til it's over!!!!!

Santa doesn't wrap presents in our house. They only get one or two Santa gifts plus their stockings. The rest come from Mom and Dad.b

We give ours only 1 thing apiece from Mom and Dad. They are wrapped in any wrapping paper and tags are put on them. Santa gifts are another thing all together. With 6 to wrap for, each of them gets their own wrapping paper, no name tags. What I do is each child gets a color dot that you get at a local Office Depot and that dot is placed on the end of each gift. If it is too difficult to wrap a bag is used and the color dot for that child is placed on the inside of the bag. I have a notebook with a dot on the top of each page along with a sample of the wrapping paper. This way I can keep a record of what each one gets and how many each one gets. (try to keep it even) The big presents are not wrapped, but I buy those really big bows and stick them to the box. It is a science that hubby has not figured out yet and his job is to deliver them to the tree on Christmas Eve and I set them up in 6 different piles.

My gifts get tagged with their ages - i.e. for my 14 year old grandson, his number is 5 - 1+4. Nobody has figured it out yet. My 28 year old daughter is 10.

Santa doesn't wrap here, so no problem there.
We do wrap and tag DS's gifts from us.

I wrapped all the Santa gifts in Disney wrapping paper and bought these cute little candy cane nametags. They will say To Emma from Santa. The ones from me will be in different paper and tags. Half the gifts are from Santa and the other half from Dad and I. The big gift, which is a bike this year, will also be from Santa. I doubt she will pay any attention to the tags anyway. As soon as I hand her one she just shreds it and doesn't care who it is from.

I put tags on everything, but my kids are still really little (just 4 and 18 months). 4-yo can read his own name, but won't recognize the writing.

I remember one year, after we were all older, my mom put all the stuff under the tree as she wrapped it, and one each tag was a number. All different numbers, and we couldn't figure out the system for our lives (and believe me, we tried!). There were 3 of us, and the even #'s 2-8 were mine, odd's 1-9 were my twin bro's, and the double digit #'s were our younger bro's. That was fun, we spent almost a month trying to figure it out, and she had to tell us on Christmas Day so we could open them! Of course, we were 18 and 11 at the time....wouldn't work with little kids

Santa wraps all his presents in paper with HIS picture on it.

I wrap and tag all the rest in regular paper. I can't imagine not getting to unwrap what Santa brought and just having it in its box but I know many people do that. I love the thrill of unwrapping a gift!

Yep! All gifts have a tag. Santa's gifts (if they're wrapped) are done in special paper that the girls pick out for him and leave out on Christmas Eve.

I use 4 differant papers, One for each child. No name tags needed. I simply seperate each childs by wrap. It makes it so much easier!

I tag all mine, but use different paper for the Santa gifts. This year the gifts from Mom and Dad are in Frosty the Snowman paper and Rudolph paper. The gifts from Santa are in paper that has each childs name all over it, so no tags needed on those! LOL

The santa gifts are stored at SIL's until Christmas Eve! :)

My kids are too old for Santa, but I've always put name tags on their gifts, be they from us or Santa.

Santa doesnt wrap at our house, nor does he assign gifts to any child in particular, but the girls know who's are who's since Santa gets them things they asked for. Plus DD5 is die hard Ariel fan and DD4 is coo coo for Tinkerbell.

Gifts from Mom and Dad are wrapped and some have the kids names on them, but the majority are nameless... they are gifts for everyone. Cuts down on the "it's MINE' syndrome. Ah no sweetie... it is for everyone.

I don't put names on the Santa stuff... she is the only child, so it is pretty obvious who the gift belongs to... Mommy's and Daddy's don't get presents in our house from Santa ;)
