When your phone gets wet, and you put it in a bag of rice to dry out, how long do you leave it in there before checking to see if you did, indeed, rescue it?

Thanks:goodvibes

I don't know, but I want to nominate you for the Best Thread Title award!

I would it think would be at least 2 days. I put my in the oven on the lowest setting overnight.( no rice) Good Luck :)

I have always heard 24 hours, but 2 days might be the best. You can't really overdo it.

I left mine in for two weeks (I wanted to be REALLY sure that it was totally dry). So far, so good :thumbsup2

My husband usually does it for 24 hours?! He has lots of experience with this unfortunately! :rotfl:

I acutally didnt use rice, I got some stuff from Bed Bath and Beyond that just sucked the moisutre right out within a week.
It was called Damp Rid I believe.

I leave it in the rice for two days then just let it sit for a week. Has always worked, with all five of us having cell phones it seems someone is always getting theirs wet! grrrr.

Hopefully you didn't try to turn it on while it was wet. If so it may not ever work.

When DD's phone got wet, we took out the battery and sim card. Dried both of those thoroughly and set them aside. Then put the phone in ziploc bag filled with rice. I didn't know whether or not to seal the bag so I googled it and found that lots of recommendations were for a "bowl" of rice so I decided to leave the bag open like a bowl would be. We waited 7 full days before trying it and Yippee! It worked! Don't know if we could have tried sooner but we wanted to make sure it was good and dry.

Hope it works for you! I was so very excited when it worked for DD, the phone was only 1 week old when it happened!

This is perfect timing. I just dropped my phone in the toilet. Gross I know. I snatched it up instantly and immediately put it in a bag of rice. It has been in there for 2 days. My daughter turned it on a couple of times even though I told her not to and...it seems to be working fine. :woohoo:

At first it just vibrated and random dialed, then it went to contacts and that was it now...I just made a call on it and sent a text. Fingers crossed. I love that phone.

I've always done it overnight (like 12 to 14 hours) and had no problems.

I kept my phone in a bag og rice for 2 days after washing it. :scared1: It didn't work. I tried to turn it on yesterday on a whim and it works!!!!! Of course, it's now 2 months later but atleast I have a backup now!

Wow, it's just a phone. Pretty simple device. Take it apart and just let it sit overnight. I see no reason for even rice.

I left my camera outside on the porch and found it the following morning after it poured rain all night. I removed the batteries and card and left the doors for it open and hung the camera up on a hook. The water literally poured out of the camera when I opened the battery door. I left it there all day and overnight. The next day, everything worked just fine.

A camera is much less complicated than a camera. Just a little circuit board in there. Open the sucker up and leave it for a short time. It would dry quick if opened up.

I have also heard of swabbing the insides with alcohol. Alcohol dries up the water rather quickly, but I have only ever used the rice method. And I have always used a bowl.

We used a tupperware container full of rice after the phone was dropped in the toilet. Fished it out, took out the battery and put both in the rice with the lid on. Left it in for 48 hours, took it out and it worked fine till he lost it in D.C. this summer!
