When you fly

do you intend to stay in your seat unless you absolutely have to get up? Do you prefer aisle or window? How do you pass the time? Do you drink, sleep, read, talk to fellow passengers?

Unless its a very long flight I do tend to stay seated. I prefer aisle. I drink water usually or juice and listen to my iPod, read, and talk to my family or anyone else that wants to talk thats near me.

Have you ever had someone polish their nails or remove polish on a flight? Are they NUTS?

I absolutely want an aisle seat. I can not sit next to the window. The last time I tried I had a small panic attack, and flying doesn't bother me that much! I usually try to stay seated and I play Uno on my Ipod or watch a dvd.

Oh yea, and drink 1/2 can of pop...hate the tiny bathrooms!

I have not experienced that, although I have seen all manner of boorish behavior. I don't know if I would put it in the same category, but flatulence on a plane is far scarier than snakes, imo.

I try to stay in my seat; it's a pain to have to walk over people and use the teeny bathrooms. I try to use the airport restrooms before a flight. I generally read, though I do bring my Zune to listen to.

On my most recent trip to London, I was flying for the first time since becoming a vegetarian. They gave me my pre-requested meal before everyone else put in their orders. After I ate my dinner, I used the restroom. When I came out, it looked like half the plane was in line! :rotfl: I was so glad I got to eat first!

I usually have to get up at least once, regardless of how long the flight is, because I have a bladder the size of a pea. :rotfl:

Plus, it helps keep the blood flowing...as much as I hate the tiny bathrooms, I hate sitting in one position even more.

I will buy magazines that I don't normally buy (People, US Weekly, Redbook, etc) and read those. Otherwise, I'll listen to my iPod or read a book I brought with.

I'm not real social, so I don't like talking to perfect strangers. ;)

I prefer to sit on the aisle, so I don't have to climb over people when I want to get out. :headache:

I usually sit in the middle and put my 3 year old son against the window, I run interferrence so he does not bother anyone. I usually stay seated and try to calm my wife who is deathly afraid of flying but does it 3-4 times a year because we have drove before and it really stinks.

I agree about the restrooms. I would rather purposely not drink before or during a flight than have to use it. Barring an emergency, once I sit down I'm staying put until touchdown.

I need a window seat so I can see the big world. I am somewhat claustrophobic. But I also need to pee, no matter how long the flight is, so I typically inconvenience everyone at least once. I read to pass the time if I am flying alone but if I am with my family I am typically managing the kids so they don't bother other people. Reading and playing warden doesn't usually mix.

That would make a great bumper sticker, tag, tee shirt.:lmao:

I'd be interested to hear your stories about being trapped next to the passenger from hell.

If I'm with the kids I'm entertaining them. I prefer an aisle. I don't get up and use the bathroom unless I absolutely positively have to. I read and listen to my iPod. I don't like to talk to strangers on a plane. I guess my fear has always been I'll make a little chit chat and then get the person that doesn't want to shut up for 3 hours. So I just don't even talk at all to not encourage that!

Allyson :)

Before kids, I sat by the window, as I love to look out. :goodvibes I would read a book or listen to music, or sleep.

I love taking pictures out the windows!

Now, the kids want the window seat, so if it's a small plane, I get the aisle, and on a bigger one, I'm stuck with the dreaded middle seat. (each DD gets a window, and DH and I each sit next to one of them). But I can still lean over and look out. :goodvibes With the kids, I don't read much. They bring books, i-pods, snacky things, etc, but there's a lot of "Mom, can you put my i-pod up and get my book?" "Mom, I want a snack," and the dreaded, "Mom, I have to go." We do keep the carry-on with all the goodies under the seat so I don't have to keep hopping up to get it out of the overhead bin, but it never fails that they have to go to the bathroom at different times. I try to avoid going myself if I can, but on a long flight, there's not really any hope of holding out until we land.

Wow - you were lucky to have such clear windows. I always get windows that are scratched all to heck and covered with condensation.

I stay in my seat, don't like those tiny bathrooms. I go before boarding and after we land. I love the window seat, but when it's just DH and I he has to have the aisle seat so I have to sit in the middle. That is when there are three seats in a row. When it's a plane with just two I do get the window. Now when we take DD she love's the window so I still get the middle:confused3 . I read a book, try to sleep but most of the time I don't.

I don't get up unless I have to. I have to have an aisle seat, don't like feeling trapped inside. And I take my I-pod (well Disney Mix Max..lol) with me and listen to music.

I sit on the aisle seat just in case I need to leave the aircraft in a hurry. ;)

I do not mind a window seat but sitting all the way in there makes me feel more claustrophobic.

I do not drink unless maybe like a 1/2 of an apple juice. I do not use the bathroom unless I can't possibly wait. I listen to my mp3 player and look at pics in the fashion magazines that I only get at the airport for the trip cause there are lots of interesting photos. I'm afraid to read---afraid it'll make me feel sick. I do not recline my seat either. I am not a huge fan of flying because of the claustrophobic feeling but nothing else about it bothers me except some of the people and their actions, mouths, and habits, LOL.

I love window seats. I would take a window over an aisle any day. I usually buy a few magazines to read on the plane, so that keeps me pretty busy. I try to sleep, but even on long flights, I have a hard time getting comfortable enough to get in a good sleep. I move around a lot in my seat, so whoever sits next to me will be annoyed for sure.

I tend to plan on only getting up when needed. I like the aisle seat, but it doesn't really make a difference. Then I load up as many movies on my ipod as I can to make the time pass.
