Did your heart soar?
Did your breath catch?
Did your eyes well up?

We drove from WDW to Port Canaveral.
While we were driving, we were so caught up in following the road instructions that we almost weren't thinking about where we were headed -

but then..

as we drove into Port Canaveral..

we caught sight of her....

none of the pictures we had seen had prepared us for that moment...

my heart stopped.....
regal......magestic....stunning.......
there really aren't any words to describe that first sighting...

did anyone else feel that way?

I was just telling a friend about this last night! We are cruising with 26 people in about 11 days, and I have tried to prepare them for the moment they see the ship. Only a few of them have cruised before, so they have no idea what they are in for.:thumbsup2 I was completely mesmerized when I first saw the ship. I couldn't believe how huge and beautiful it was! I just keep telling all of our travel companions that they are just going to be blown away when they first see it! I've also tried to prepare them for the tears that tend to fall from a mother's eyes when the family's name is announced as you enter the ship. It's a feeling like no other.:goodvibes

My daughter called right at that moment I saw her. I could not talk. I was speechless. It took a while for my heart to get out of my throat. I was so overwhelmed at the mear sight of her.

:tink:

Funny, with just a hint of fall in the air, I was coming around a bend on the expressway in Norfolk, VA yesterday, and my mind and body (my soul?!) automatically fluttered in anticipation of seeing the Wonder/Magic in drydock. Alas...I already knew neither will be here this year.:sad1:

and yes, coming over that bridge at Port Canaveral...catching the first glimpse of the ship always brings excited anticipation...and once the ship comes into full view, waiting for you and welcoming you, you feel like the Magic is -finally - about to begin.:cloud9: and for return cruisers, you know you are home!

oh you will....there's just no way for any of us to describe it for you to have even an inkling of what it is you're going to feel when you see her for the first time....
definitely takes your breath away....even the second time around...

We've sailed on the Magic and the Wonder 58 timesnow, and I still strain my eyes and crane my neck to see it off in the distance as we cross that bridge. I still feel that tingle of excitement even after all this time.

It was even neater in Spain...as we flew into Barcelona, we came in over the port and I saw the Magic there waiting for us below. It was almost as special as seeing it for the first time.

hi Barb (or Tony?)...
wish i'd had that experience in Barcelona...
our very first time on the Wonder, we were VERY honored to be sharing the ship with the two of you....whenever anyone asks if we saw any celebrities on board, we say 'yes, Barb and Tony!"

I have to agree!! After a very long day of traveling from Chicago it was comforting and awesome to fly into Barcelona and look out the plane window and see the Disney Magic. We were pretty tired after about 13hrs of planes and airports but I swear we got our second wind once we saw the ship.:)

Our one and only Disney Cruise was the Wonder on 9/9/99 (don't ask me why we haven't gone again as I really don't know!) Anyway, we had been at WDW and did not tell our children we were going on the cruise. They thought we were going back to the airport and were too young to recognize any of the scenery out the car window. When we actually got close enough to see the ship, I'm sure my heartrate increased! But the true emotional breakdown for me was when we were pulling out of the port and the ship's horn played the first few notes of "When You Wish Upon A Star" -- I lost it completely! :goodvibes

Geez, I thought I was the only one! The bad part is we're locals. We go to Cocoa Beach often and everytime I go over the bridge I get a lump in my throat when I see the ship! But I only cry when I'm not getting on it:lmao: It's a bit of a let down when the port is empty. Last Sunday we were going over and I was sort of kinda speeding (just a little:rolleyes1 ) to get there before the Magic sailed but we missed it. A little ways down the road my DH starts yelling "wait, wait for us!" and there it was in the channel! That's the first time I realized that he's as hooked on cruising as I am!:rotfl2:

We were so excited to go on our first Disney cruise, that we drove to Norfolk to see the Wonder when she was in drydock to get an early peak at her. Wow, it make my heart skip a beat and brought tears to my eyes. She is so beautiful.

Mesmerized is a very good word. It's a wonder I haven't gotten into an accident going over that bridge! :rotfl:

I see it three days a week but when it's my turn to sail on it... wow, I get a bit misty eyed. My time is today, check my ticker...yahoo! I can tell you I'll have a hard time sleeping tonight thinking of the Disney Wonder.
