When you bought an add-on, how did you chose where?

I'm sure that some of you just bought more points at your home resort, but for those of you who chose a different resort, what influenced you to buy there? Price? Theming? Less points per night? Location? I am going to check into more points at SSR on our upcoming trip (can't hurt, right?), but I have considered points elsewhere. BCV or VWL are my other choices.

What's your thoughts on this?

We bought three sets of points at OKW first. Then they were building VWL and we used to live in Montana. We also used to go to Yellowstone a lot, so naturally, I wanted some points at VWL. Then when they said they were going to build at BC, my husband jumped on that one. He and our son just love SAB, so naturally, he wanted some points at BCV.

Now we have 500 and that's enough for us.

We added on at the BCV because we used to "pool hop" over to SAB from the BWV and no longer could with the restrictions placed on it when the BCV opened. Since we wanted to continue to enjoy SAB from time to time, we added on there.

We also added on at BCV. However, I don't even swim, so it certainly wasn't the pool, except as part of the theming-I love to walk in up to my ankles and squish the sand under my toes. I could tell from my first solo visit there that it would be the resort I'd love for solo trips. We added on there just to "fund" my solo trips so I could get the 11 month window there.

I didn't even thing of some of these reasons for adding at different places. I haven't been home yet and I had never stayed at a resort like the DVC resorts before (CSR is our old home) so I didn't "buy where I wanted to stay". I know I am going to love SSR and I may have a chance to stay at BCV with some friends this June... maybe we'll look into more points there, hhmmmm... I don't think I could go wrong with any of the on-site properties.

We bought at BWV first (the standard point structure +location sold us), then we added on at VWL because we want to make a "family tradition" of going their every other Christmas, and we wanted to be sure that we could get in over the long haul. Then, we added on at OKW because we wanted to do extended family/friends trips in the grand villas. Now, if we get anymore money to add-on, I will probably go back to BWV...unless something better opens in the meantime!!

We bought in at OKW when it was called the Disney Vacation Club. When the announcement of VB occurred, we did an add on there ... Why? Because it was available. Financially speaking, I'm kinda glad we stopped there. However, emotionally speaking, I really wish that I could afford to have points at all of the DVC resorts!

We purchased a resale of 50 pts at OKW. DH wanted to "try out" DVC first without getting "over our heads". We bought OKW because it was the only one we saw that had that few points at the time we were looking to buy in. (last year)

We bought VWL first and added on twice there. We travel in the Summer and the 7 month window isn't that tough for us to get into where we want to stay, so it made sense to keep all the points at one resort, that is until last summer. We decided to stay at BWV last summer, and were lucky enough to get a BW View room. Boy did that knock our socks off!! We LOVED IT!!! We also stayed 5 nights at the GF before and as nice as it was, we didn't like being all in one room. So, the combined WOW factor of BWV for us and the fact that we didn't like staying in a regular hotel room anymore, got us to add-on. So, we immediately bought 150 points at BWV. We're holding steady now at 425, but I'm holding out hope for a monorail DVC for my next add-on.

VWL, I bought resale at VWL because it is or is one of the smallest, so the 11 month window is a big thing, and we love what else you have in the area, MK, CR, GF, Poly, and Fort Wilderness and the walking trails. Originally we thought we would have River Country and Discovery Island also!!! We have done 2 addons, but same uy and at VWL. I just think it would be a hassle trying to track and book if you have several different resorts, unless you have enough points at each to book your trip? But I could be wrong because it seems several do it!

We bought in at BWV. We love the whole Epcot area so went into to talk to our guide about adding on points at BCV. He talked us out of it. Said we didn't need any more points at WDW since we could already use our BWV points there. He told us to consider HH -- which is where we added on. Of course now I realize it was a sales ploy but I am SO GLAD we listened to him! We love HH and will quite possibly add on there again within the next year.

We first bought at VWL, but my wife loves the beach and after visiting HH we knew we'd like to have points there also so that we could get 11 month ressies. It was actually her idea to do the add-on. I hadn't even been thinking about it and just out of the blue she asked if I thought it would be possible to get some points at HH. So I called our guide and sure enough there was some available. So we bought our add-on there.

We are from Upstate NY and figured that when the kids got older they might want a place that was closer distance wise for driving and diffrent activites such as tennis & Golf which is why we chose Hilton Head. The atmosphere is laid back.

We bought originally at BWV, and decided to add on enough points at VB so we can spend 4 nights every other year during spring training. Only reason. My husband is a baseball fan and wants to go to games when he retires.

Î chose my add-on, and my original purchase, by listening to everyone here on the boards and bought where I wanted to stay.

My homes are VWL and BCV. I wanted to limit my times on a bus. I love the boats! I split my stays half and half. We do MK while we're at VWL and the others at BCV. This limits my bus excursions to AK and DTD only. My other factors were - BCV - SAB, 11 month security in booking and VWL - Christmas(1st week in Dec.) & 11month security in booking.

I have 195pts. at BCV and 200 pts at VWL. If I add on, but not anytime soon, it'll be at one of these. Even though the thought of buying in to a monorail DVC would be tempting

Good luck on your decision and honestly, any DVC is a great place to be :flower1:

This gives me a lot to mull over! The more I think about it the more I really think BCV or VWL will be great for an add-on. I am only assuming that I will like the theming of VWL - I love the woods! I think we are going to eat at WCC on this trip and that will give me an idea of what VWL is like.

I am not a beach person myself but I like the light and airy feeling of the BCV. When we went to the boardwalk to sign up for DVC I was blown away! The boardwalk was an entity unto itself. Something I had never seen or explored.

I'll take a look around while we're there and test the waters of how DH feels.

My first home is VWL, but love the EPCOT area at F&W fell in love with BWV so purchased an add-on to book at 11 months.

D4D, we started out with 160 BCV points bought from Disney. We knew our kids would love SAB and we wanted the 11 month window there. We just bought VWL 250 points re-sale. DH wanted to be sure we could do Christmas there sometimes. We would like 90 more BCV points to make them even. We have stayed at OKW and loved it too. We want to try all of the resorts in time, but I don't think we will buy at another "home" unless it is something really unique like at AKL!

WCC is a great place to eat. Ask for Empty Wallet. She's a hoot!!!! If you like the woods then VWL is your place. The lobby in WL will blow you away. We love to hang out and play checkers in the villas common area in front of the fire place. My dd loves it there. Last month we were on the bottom floor eating breakfast outside and a bunny hopped right up to my dd and ate a bagel out of her hand. VWL is my favorite place for sure!

When you go to WL go to the front desk and get a facts sheet about the Lodge and a hidden mickey's sheet, it'll pass the time while you wait to eat.
