do you return it right away or do you forget to return it?

I hate it when I have to ask that "my stuff" be returned.:(

I return it ASAP, since that's how I'd like other people to be with my stuff. Of course when I lend it out, I don't expect it back until the person is fully finished with it. If it takes a few weeks, month, etc depending on what it is. My friends are usually great at getting things back to me very quickly. So I've never really had that problem.

I return as soon as I am done with whatever I borrowed. ::yes::

Well I try really hard to get things back soon- but sometimes I forget

Or if its a dish or something I usually like to make cookies or a treat to include as my thanks- so sometimes that takes a few days-

Little bit of both....

Wish it was more remembering less forgetting, but I think it's about half-and-half

I would always return it right away/ASAP.

Many years ago I loaned my (Ex) SIL a video - after 2 months I politely asked for it back and she had the nerve to get angry with me saying she hadn't had time to watch it yet and why was I bothering her about it! Well, it is my video Maria!

I return promptly! And I expect the same in return..... but some people you just never loan stuff to again.... like the co-worker who borrowed three books (reference that I used frequently) and after many months of asking for in return, I just gave up and bought them for myself again. Oh well..... I kind of group people like that along with people who never RSVP for parties and who call your house and when you answer they ask "who's this?".....P

When and if I borrowed anything it always got replaced/returned right away.:D

There is one neighbor that has "borrowed" several things from me. She borrowed a couple of reference books about 2 years ago and still hasn't returned them. She borrowed something for the Palm Pilot in December and got upset when I told her, two weeks ago, that I needed it back. A week ago, she borrowed some toys for her DD's science project and said she would bring them back later in the week, no sight of them yet.

She may have other things that I don't even remember. That's it... her "borrowing privileges" have been permanently revoked.

I'd let me neighbors borrow anything because I trust them. But in college, I once lent a pricey sweater to a sorority sister. She ruined it with a terrible snag and she didn't bother to replace it. I remember how angry I was.

I really hate borrowing and lending, and try not to do it very often. If I do borrow something I make sure I return it within a few days. If I loan something I expect the same. A former friend used to borrow things and because she was a friend I always hated to tell her no, so just let her borrow but I really didn't like it. Especially one time when she borrowed a wedding sampler cross stitch pattern. I had used the pattern once, for my son, and wanted to use it again for my daughter so I told her I needed it back. Well, I saw it a couple of times while she was using it and she got it so torn and dog-eared that I just went out and bought another. She never did return it.

I don't borrow much because I'm afraid I will break/ruin it. I do borrow my neighbor's toga for Greek Day every year. I work in a middle school and her Mom sewed a really nice one for her three boys to use each year.

I have another neighbor who constantly borrows and never returns. I only lend her stuff I don't want back. She also asked for a Disney video her DD likes to watch and then never returned it, she said "Well your kids don't watch it anymore". Maybe so but I would have liked to offer to give it to her first.

I do this too...If I had to borrow a pie plate...it goes back with a pie in it, kind of thing:)

One of my friends asked me if I wanted to borrow her piggy bank!!LOL!!:D

:sunny:

I prefer not to borrow ANYTHING from anyone, however when I do...I return it in better condition that I got it...for instance, I borrowed DBIL's big tractor for the weekend, and when I returned it I filled up the tank, greased all the zerk fittings and washed it before I brought it back.

I dont let people borrow my stuff.....because it wont come back as I sent it...

Hi Rita :wave2:

I rarely borrow anything, but when I do, I return it immediately. When I have lent my things, I rarely get it back at all, or I only get it back after asking for it. (It makes me mad to have to ask for my stuff back & I feel stupid about it ~ instead of the person who has forgotten that they have something that doesn't belong to them! )

Altho at the moment, we have a video that my DS borrowed from my friend's DS since LAST SUMMER!! The problem is, we just haven't seen each other since. But each time I speak with her, I remind her that I have the video & if she'd like me to mail it before we get the chance to meet again, I'd be glad too.

I'd stop lending my stuff to that neighbor of yours. Sounds like she just wants a bunch of FREE things!!

I try to give back ASAP. Unfortunately, I have a co-worker who borrows and never retruns. I learned this the hard way. She "lost" my stapler and an educational video I bought that I've used for years. Just yesterday she asked to borrow my electric pencil sharpener. I had to refuse. What irks me is that she never offered to replace the things she lost. If I would lose something I borrowed, I would make an offer to replace it.

I return the item. I think it's hard to ask for something back that someone doesn't return. And why would someone ask to borrow something and not return it? Happened to us several of times :(

Well it took my "best" friend over 6 months to "return" the $150 she borrowed from me and promised to pay back within 2 months. I am still mad about it every time I talk to her, because every time we talk (even when she hadn't paid me back yet), she's talking about what she's been buying. I'm so glad she used my money to buy her boyfriend knick knacks for val's day. Ingrate.

The only thing I ever borrow is CDs, and I usually exchange with someone and we keep them for a while, until someone thinks to ask for them back.
