When you are torn apart between a moderate and a deluxe resort...

If we think we are going to have more down or resort time...we go the delux route. Commando park style and using room for sleep/showering...value route. We base it more on what we are going to be doing with our days more so than how many days. However, it seems like once we are there we hit the parks all the time!
We do tend to do split stays also...basing it on location from MK resorts to Epcot ones.

I stayed deluxe two times. Once when I was just a baby (only 2) and don't remmeber and then when I was 11 and my dad had just passed away. Mom decided we needed a pick me up trip and so we all went down to Disney (Mom, myself, my cousin Heather and my pop) we stayed lagoon view at the Polynesian and I have to say it was the best and most memorbale trip yet. There is nothing like walking out onto your balcony and seeing the castle all lit up at night, or opening up your curtain in the morning and seeing it in the blue sky. I don't know even a cynic would have to say that kind of experience is pretty magical.

However, on that particular trip we stayed for 10 days and we did it all, had plenty of time to just chill out by the pool, rent the boats, go to the Luau etc... It really was a once in a lifetime fantastic trip. :)

We have gone to Disney since then and never once stayed Deluxe. My DH would love to try it at leats once and he to is in love with the lure of the Poly. However, considering that we are newlyweds, young parents and we are far from being rich we have opted to move up one step this year and do the POFQ with the dining package free. ;)

I too think it all depends on your financial situation and what is really important to you when you go to Disney, although I will say we are already planning our next vacation (Early December 2006 and we are definently going to stay at the the Polynesian for seven days in addition to the three day bahamian cruise we are doing on the the Wonder! )

Whatever you decide have a great time! :flower:

Ok, I am trying to decide between a moderate and deluxe. What is this "free dining' think I keep reading about? I haven't a clue...can somebody tell me as much as possible? :confused3

It was offered around the end of may/beginning of June. It had to be booked by July 3rd in order to get the deal. But basically if you booked a MYW package between August 21st-October something or other, The disney dining plan was included for free. It was good at any of the resorts and ended up being a savings of like $800 bucks for us. Actually even more since our food bill would be way more without the dining plan included.

However, like I said in order to take advantage of it, it had to be booked by the 3rd of July. It really is a good deal if you don't mind braving the hurricane season, but like I said been there, done that Hurricane Frances came right in the middle of my trip, so no fears here :flower:

We always stay at a moderate because that enables us to have an unlimited food/souvenier budget. We have never split a stay, I like to stay put!
