I have a question....is it just me or is it a little ironic that all the "famous" people and holding a telethon for Haiti? I thought the same thing after Katrina.
The majority of Americans are as charitable as you can get.

I'm not saying we shouldn't contribute what we can, but it really bugs me when the "celebrities" do something like a telethon...sheesh, don't they get enough attention?

I'd like to know how much they are donating of their own money along with the ticker that will count the money pledged.

I'm not complaining about being asked to contribute, it's more who and how it's done. In fact, without the influence of Oprah, ellen, & Beyonce...I managed to contribute, all on my own. And I'm sure millions of others have been charitable and concerned for the people of Haiti, without someone with an over blown ego telling them to.

ok, I'm now stepping off the soapbox.

I know. Oh well, at least they are using their notoriety for something positive. It's sad that in our celebrity-obsessed culture so many people pay more attention to a cause simply because it's fashionable. :upsidedow

Holy moses!! I just realized I'm down to 11 days!:banana:
I can't wait! Living in a construction zone is driving me batty. The contractors said they want to have the kitchen finished before we leave, but it's not looking too good. they still have to sheet rock, mud, tile, but the cabinets in, do the countertop and tile the backsplash.

I'm not holding my breath.

See, if we're sure to bring potty humor to a thread, Cynthia is right behind us with shoe talk. Then I come along and put them both together with stories of dropping my shoes down my outhouse. :lmao::lmao::lmao: It all works out great!

Doing a dance for 11 days! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

And a little pixie dust to help the remodel along. :tink:
thanks! I'm not sure what i'm more excited about....disney world, vacationing without the kids, or escaping the remodel.

11 days!

What did you decide about shoes?
I had to send them back, which makes my feet sorry. I think that the problem is with "mary janes" style. My foot is a little thicker from the surgery and that part of my foot gets squished and pooches out of the shoe.
They felt wonderful other than that....I may try another style but I don't know if I'll have time for them to get here and then worn in enough before we leave.
I don't have any stores near that sells that brand....maybe I can convince d.jay that a trip to seattle is needed.;)

cynthia tries so hard to keep things "classy" and we just don't co-operate.

On this past wendsday Evan got his drivers license. I waited nervously at home while D.Jay took him for the test. I think I prayed the entire time untill I got the call..Evan got out of the car with a huge grin on his face! He passed the driving with 92%!
I was so excited when D.Jay called to tell me the news...and then it sunk it. My baby, never mind that he's 16 and 6ft tall, has grown up.

I couldn't help thinking about the day he was born and the 2 weeks in the nicu. I was 19 and scared to death! As time went by he proved to be a healthy little boy who was so happy!
I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown when I sent him off to kindergarten, but like everyother mom, I survived. Then came middle school. Oy!! I just knew he wasn't ready for that! He played football in 7th and 8th grades...there were a few times he was down on the field. Every ounce of my being wanted to run onto the field yelling "my baby"! But I controled myself.

Last year came high school. I was scared and he couldn't wait. Then he turned 16 and started to date....boy was that hard. I think I cried for an hour after we sent him on his way to the homecoming dance.

Even though all of that was difficult, yesterday was the worst. He drove off on his own to take Bailie to dance and then to a basketball game. I didn't want him to see how nervous I was so i stayed inside and watched from the window as the tail lights disapered into the night.

As I watched the car leaving it hit me that he doesn't need me as much as before. Before I had the comfort of knowing that I was still needed, but now I realize that he is growing up and leaving me behind. Which is good! I want him to be a self sufficient man ....one day.

Just thinking about 2 1/2 years from now, he will be leaving on a mission....I think I'll be needing a tranquilizer!
I'm so proud of the man he is becoming and I know he will leave the nest eventually........but can't it be postponed awhile longer?

There seem to be so many "tail light" moments in our lives. I just hope I can remember the good things about the tail lights disappearing. To be honest, I can't wait to make him run errands for me.

I was thinking on New Year's Eve that this will probably be one of the last New Year's Eve's I'll spend with all my kids. Maybe I'll have another year or so, but when I was my oldests' age I started going to friends' houses on New Years. And she'll start driving later this year.

So, yeah, these are interesting times.

I think what scares me most about him driving, is thinking about the stupid things I did at that age.

:rotfl2: yep, you even make hurling in bushes classy.;)

I wear a bib while hurling...;)

I can't even imagine what a mess I'll be when Ethan is this old....

just be sure to wear a diaper when..... oops wrong kind of mess...

yeah...my mom and dad still treat me like I'm the baby of the family...because I am. It's weird to still FEEL like the baby as an adult. Hard to describe. so don't expect ethan to act any different as an adult--he'll always be your baby.
