When worlds collide~the original flats meet in 4D!!

Oh I love the banter. It's highly entertaining. It's just frightening sometimes to come back a couple days later and be 10 pages behind like on Jordans :scared1:

I know I'm late... But it's hard not to be with some of you guys. There are 3 new pages every day sometimes. Craziness. Anywho, one of my favorite authors is Gregory Maguire. He's the one who wrote Wicked before it became a musical.
I'm hoping to surprise DW with tickets to Wicked this summer for our Anniversary. Depends on what our vacation schedule winds up being. (Not a Disney Vacation unfortunately.)

That would be so sweet! I hear it's great. I've never seen it myself, though I do have the soundtrack, and the sheet music, and could probably sing the entire thing for you.

It's a really good book. And I love his other ones, based off stories like Cinderella (Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister) and Snow White (Mirror Mirror)

I'm glad you popped in! when's your next trip?

I'd like to know what Evan's band teacher was thinking when he arranged tonights christmas concert......there wasn't a christmas song to be found.
But the highlight was the end when the band played "COME SWEETLY DEATH".
At first I thought they could read my mind!

My kids all know how I feel about 2 hour long band concerts. At first I felt bad for letting them know that it's a level of hell to me. But then I realized, they can see how much I do love them. Because if it weren't for pure love and maternal instinct I wouldn't put my ears through the torture.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year...there isn't anything I don't love about it. But this year I just haven't been feeling it. It dawned on me after several days of contemplation that it's because I have no decorations up. mine always go up the day after thanksgiving, but since we're in the middle of the remodel and leaving for christmas, we decided not to decorate this year.

So today I was in a little bit of a funk. I went to the store for a little retail therapy when my eyes saw it....there on the shelf in front of me was a row of Maxfield's chocolates. I'm sure I looked like I'd just found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

What I found was even better. A flood of memories from christmas past washed over me as I picked up a box. Me eyes started to fill with tears as I remembered the joy of getting a package in the mail and knowing that inside would be my Grandma's love.

Every year my Grandma made candy and treats and sent them to us along with a large box of maxfield's chocolates. Getting that package was one of the highlights of christmas for me.

My dear Grandma passed away 9 years ago, not long before christmas. She was my bonus Grandma who, like my mom, loved me from the beginning as their own. I was her "strawberry shortcake kid"..I never outgrew that nickname.

After a few minutes a realized that I was starring at the box like a dear in the headlights, so I picked up a couple others and checked out. As soon as I got to the car I sent my mom a text telling her what I had found.

I'm sitting here looking at those boxes and feeling my Grandma's love.

was having one of those "grandma moments" too yesterday. I got out all my christmas linens, and one of the last things she ever gave me (she died in June- suicide) was a Christmas tea towel that says "Whenever you see this, think of me".

She was sure something special in my life!!

I was her "CrackerJack Girl".

What a sweet memory of your grandmother! :goodvibes My grandmother always sent me Avon lotion so whenever I smell it, I think of her.

Glad you survived the Christmas concert and Death didn't have to come for you.

Awww, Cherie that is so sweet! I have not heard of Maxfield chocolates but I'm going to look for them now. If they are from Grandma, they must be good. :thumbsup2

oh Liesa, I'm so sorry. Was she ill?
I think those little things that remind of us of loved ones after they pass is a token of God's love.

I love how smells can be tied into memories...

If it had lasted much longer, I might have been praying for it to come..

what's funny is they aren't the best out there, but they always tasted sooo good.
When I showed the box to my kids I explained why they're so special to me, which of course ended with be crying...but a little later on Ethan asked if he could have one of the "special grandma chocolates".

Cherie,

What a lovely lovely memory! I got teary reading that. I need to make my grandma's black forest cookies this weekend, I don't know that anyone really likes them but me but they remind me of her like nothing else.

Thank you for making me think of that.

I am so glad that you had that much needed moment

She had had the shingles a few years back which left some permanent nerve damage in her legs. But more than that, she was just tired and frustrated and angry at my grandfather who didn't treat her very well. The whole situation (it's ongoing with GPa)makes me so sad!

Anyway, they are tokens of love! thanks for that reminder.
