Hi - I've seen on here that lots of people carry their passports around and some take photocopies. We are not hiring a car - so will we need our passports with us for anything else? Do we need them to pick up our park tickets? We have booked a package through Virgin Holidays including POR hotel, park tickets and DDP. I was hoping we could just leabethem safely locked up in teh safe - one less thing to worry about - but dont want to get caught out if we need them...

Thanks xx

We have never needed our passports. They stay locked in the safe the whole holiday.

If we need ID we use the photocard part of our driving licence. :thumbsup2 You will proably need ID when checking in, if you are trying to buy adult drinks or if you use a credit card in some shops for a large value. :thumbsup2

or if you use a credit card in some shops for a large value. :thumbsup2

We also leave passport in the hotel and use DL for ID, far easier to carry around.
Just wanted to pick up on this comment, it doesn't have to be a large amount, I use credit card for everything and there are no rules to when getting asked for ID, its totally random, might be a $40 meal or it clould be for a $3 icecream. You need ID all the time for credit cards. Also Travellers cheques when we used to use those I was often asked for ID but thats was mainly when using them for petrol for some reason.

thanks for the replies - we weren't even going to take driving licenses as not hiring a car - but think we will def take the photo card part now. is that all we need - we won't need the other part of our DLs?

Thanks

Just the photo card part, its a lot easier than taking a passport with you.:thumbsup2

In Dec we used the FairFX card for the first time and apart from tips we just about charged everything. I was only asked for ID twice at the same place in Epcot and I was able to just show them my KTTW card!

I've been asked for ID almost every time I have used a travellers cheque. I just keep my passport on me. It is in a separate zipped compartment of a small across the shoulder bag that I use as a purse at Disney. It takes up no extra space at all.

Didn't know that only been asked for larger amounts so assumed that was why :goodvibes doesn't matter as we always carry our DL.

We need to show our ID's when we pick up our Disney and Seaworld Tickets.

I wasn't asked for them last time I used TC's but that was 5 years ago!!!!

Apparently if your park ticket doesn't activate for some reason on first use, you need photo ID.

You need photo ID to check in at your resort too, as mentioned above.
