When will they confine you to your room?

on the 11/16-11/20 Wonder a family was quarantined to their stateroom because the son had the flu ... whole family had to stay in ... that had to suck big time :(

Another chiming in for Zicam - being diabetic, it's hard to find anything OTC that works, but the swabs are great. I'm so glad this subject came up, because I had forgotten to get some and I want to carry some with me on my Dec trip. This board is the greatest!

I hate to contradict quote that you will not be quarrantined for vomiting alone, but we were speaking with mother on CC during the 11/8 Magic cruise.

On Monday evening, her 8 year old DD ate too many chix strips and ff. Threw up once, but as a good person, she called the infirmary.

DD was quarrantined for 48 hours. Missed Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

She never threw up again, never had diarrhea, never had a fever, but the Dr. wasn't willing to take a chance. They are very concerned about the Norwalk this year. Don't want a repeat of last year.

So, sniffles, no, vomiting, yes.

Last year Tom got a cold at WDW, and I ended up with strep throat on top of that.

We saw the ship's MD and were NOT confined to our room - but logic and comfort dictated that we spend most of our cruise there.

Very grateful for verandah and room service!!!!!! Didn't feel like we missed out on much that way!!!

On our first Disney Cruise, May 2002, we were quarantined for 5 out of our 7 days. The kids came down with chicken pox. We had trip insurance......we were not allowed to fly home from port because of the danger we posed to the islanders. So, we spent the cruise confined. I argued for almost a year with Disney that I did not stay on ship by choice, we were not allowed to leave. I finally received a small discount voucher..woooohoooo.

We redid our trip in Aug. 2003...we sailed with Rae and Rsholtis. We had an incredible time.

I pray you feel better, not because of possible quarantine, but so you can enjoy your trip!

Take care,

Michele

disneyeveryyear,

Don't hate contradicting a quote that I made based on logic and reason when you've got facts to replace that with.

However, there are two things that stand out as being different between the 11/8 cruise story and the story that started this thread:

1. The child was taken to see the doctor. The doctor now has a record of a child that has been sick and would put him self at risk (professionally) if it turned out to be a stomic virus and he didn't confine the child. In the case of the first story, only the cabin steward knew about the vomit.

2. The child was taken to see the doctor. I could very well see how part of what played into the doctor's decision to quarrantine the child was the fact that mother was concerned enought to bring the child to see the doctor. Stated another way, if the monther felt sure that the vomit was purely because the child ate too much, then she most likely would not have taken the child to see the doctor. But because the mother did take the child to see the doctor, she apparently was not sure that this is why the child was vomiting.

You know Shelly, I spent a week with you and never heard that story - incredible, you could have milked that on this forum for ohhh, say a year??????

Glad they finally gave you something but whew what a horrible time for the kids to get sick - but my eldest always seemed to get "something" whenever we got our military leave and we started to know the other installation hospitals as well as our own. He's finally on his own and healthy -

And you know Shelly, you never once did mention the fact that during the cruise with us you were confined to a wheelchair.

It is refreshing to find that someone can look past their problems and see the good. Maybe you need to give lessons!!!!

Hugs,
Rae
