The rates for next February are horrendous! And there seem to be no coupons available at this time. Do you think prices will come down? :confused3

still looking for some decent rates for feb 07. Anyone??? :listen:

Are you going over the Presidents' Day week? That's the one time I have had a HORRID time getting any discount. (My corporate TA actually had to fight with Hertz to get them to give us the standard corporate rate that week, they wanted to double it!)

Try dollar and use the code KISS2, I got a immediate for $28.00 a day.

I am going over President's Day weekend the 14 to the 26. The KISS2 did not work for me. :confused3 I kept getting invalid notices when I tried to use it. I guess I will just keep trying. Thanks all.

Discounts even for right now are not great. We could see some drop, but I wouldn't hold my breath for anything compared to what we've seen in the past. Even this September, which is usually bottom prices, the discounts just were not that good. I leave next weekend and am still waiting for a great discount. I did get an OK one, but nothing like in the past. Paying $159 a week base fare for intermediate, total $347 for 2 weeks and that is the best I can do and I check everyday and am not going during the holiday. I have a trip planned for early February and will be watching for that timeframe too. Fortunately I've already gotten one of my free days from National to apply to that rate.

I got a standard SUV down to $606 from $668 at Alamo for 12 nights in Feb over President's day weekend using rate code BY, ID #428448. This is the WalMart ID. It also gave me a free driver.

Thanks, but we will be arriving late at night and would prefer to rent at the airport. We always get lost and with two grandchildren in tow...... :bitelip:

Are you a bj's member? I used their coupon in the latest flyer and got a standard SUV out of Tampa (which is usually higher rental prices) for $258 including a free extra driver. This is for Feb vacation also.

Thanks, I am a BJ's member. I guess I will need to get their flyer. I usually just throw it away.

I have the same problem. I have a mid SUV with alamo for 6 days for around $315. Last January I had the same for about $116...only about a week difference in my dates. Whats going on?

We are going for five days in January and I have a car reserved at Avis through Costco. The thing is that the coupons expire December 31, 2006. As soon as they extend the coupons and we get closer to 2007, we should see the rates come down. At least I hope so.

We're having the same problem! We get down there on February 20th and need a car for two weeks. I have a coupon that I got from Costco with our renewal that's good through 6/30/07 but it only knocks down the astronomically high rates to slightly less on the astronomically high scale -we're looking at 700 for a SUV and that's cheap!

Sure glad I booked a car a few months ago. Have a Dodge Magnum booked from Feb 20 to Mar 9th for $410.00 everything included. Thats for 17 days. I still expect these high prices to come way down or looks like there will be alot of lost business with the rental car companies.

Bumping this one up as we are also going 2/14-26. Best I have been able to do so far with National is a midsize for $452, and I have spent a LOT of time fiddling to get that.... KISS2 with Dollar is supposed to only be good thru 12/31 so kudos to the person who got that to work for Feb! Got something slightly lower from Enterprise but I am nervous about that as their counter closes at 11 and if we are bumped or delayed due to NJ winter weather we could wind up with nothing.
Did a rental in August that kept going down every week so here's hoping something similar will happen.

I got my midsize SUV for 02/04-02/09 down to $292. Still isn't looking good though. I don't see the same kind of discounts we saw at this time last year.

I just tried Thrifty this morning, got a full size for $492 for 15 days. It's a $200 difference from out other reservation. We're there from Feb. 20 - March 7.

Whohoo!! Just got an SUV for 5 nights in Feb for $185 with tax...Those rates are coming down.
