You can make a placeholder reservation, and it must be used (or the cruise starts) within 24 months of the date you booked it -- you don't have 24 months to change it to a real date further out.

No, it cannot be combined with other discounts. It can be combined with a TA OBC offer as long as you transfer the reservation to a TA within 30 days.

Or if you make the placeholder as a reservation using your TA. I was able to add my TA (that I had used for my current cruise) to the placeholder that I booked recently. Just like I would have been able to with a normal booking.

The confirmation for the placeholder has a specific "travel by date" which is exactly 2 years from when I made the booking. I booked on 6/11/15 and the travel by date is 6/11/17. The wording then explains: "This reservation must commence on or before the Travel By date listed above or the reservation will automatically cancel and deposit will be refunded." (emphasis added by me)

I found that interesting with regard to the recent discussion about what exactly the 2 years meant. I was recently able to transfer another booking to a cruise that would commence within the 2 year window, but not be finished within it. The wording on the placeholder seems to confirm that it is indeed the start and not the finish of the cruise that matters in this regard.

Can I add a TA to my placeholder deposit after the fact. I'm home 4 days now from my cruise and never though to add her when I made my OBB placeholders?

Yes, you can transfer your reservation to a TA within 30 days of making it. Contact your TA.
