when will i be a member?

so like many others here, i am waiting on my resale to go through closing. my estimated closing according to the title company is 5/18. at what point am i "officially" a member? when will i receive my member number? that comes before the official member card, correct? can i get a temporary member card at SSR still? i know it will be like 10-15 days to get into the system for ressies, but will i get my member number at time of closing? we will be at Disney 6/1, and are wanting to get dvc aps at that time. what will i need to show?

I believe you are officially a member after your official closing date. However, until the DVC puts you into their system there is not much you can do. Since so many contracts were submitted for ROFR in March everybody seems to be behind and I would expect the DVC also to have delays. DVC will provide you with your member number. It's mailed to you about 2 to 3 weeks after you are in the DVC system. However, you can call Member Services (MS) earlier to get your number and make a reservation when your membership is in the DVC computer system. I'd wait at least a week after your closing before calling MS.

I think you can still pick up a card at SSR, but unless you are in the DVC computer system they won't be able to issue the card. Ask MS to be sure.

If your member card does not arrive before your trip to WDW, the Preview Center at SSR can make you membership cards. They are the same plastic ones that would be mailed out.

To get DVC APs, you would need your membership card and government issued ids with photos for all adults (ages 18+) showing the same address as the member.
