The current, 8/16/05, national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.524. ($2.45 where I live)

When do you think it will hit $3.00?

POLL COMING

I think that it already has in some parts of the country.

I just saw the news here tonight, a station in Chicago, $3.05, $3.19 and $3.29 (I think those were the 3)

ETA..........

Here is from the Chicago CBS news site............

OP is considering the average.

I'm not sure, but if I had to guess I don't think it will hit 3 as an average until next year.

It has already hit over $3.00 here in Chicago. I saw it today for $3.15. :faint:

My pick isn't up there. I say Friday cause that is when we leave and drive to Baltimore. Gas prices always jump whenever I travel by car. :Pinkbounc

Holy CRAP!!!! :earseek: I guess we shouldn't complain about $2.50 here in NJ!!! Plus we get a "gas man" to pump it for us!!! What a bargain!! :rotfl2:

They say after Labor Day gas prices are suppose to drop. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I hope so, but I won't hold my breath. Even if it does drop, they'll just bring it back up again. I wish I could just walk everywhere.

I heard an analyst on NPR yesterday speculate that $3.00 per gallon is a touchpoint, and that the reaction in the market will be significant. It isn't clear whether it'll result in an arrest of the increases, or perhaps even a significant decrease.

I'm not sure I believed him...

I saw a station at $3.05 the other day! Its the first one I saw at three dollars. Other stations are $2.97 (2.69 for regular) I dont think it will be long before the rest of the country hits $3.00. (But I hope I'm wrong)

:guilty: Ouch! I hope something breaks soon! I do not get out to much, just local, but DD does have to travel for her job! What a people to do? I have heard of people making all kinds of changes due to the high price of gas! I read yesterday that Wal-Mart has also felt the effect on the backline with their trucking fleet! You know they will pass that along to us consumer's!

Near my house at stop and shop, the mid grade was 2.65.
OY!
Thank goodness I get 5 cents off a gallon with my stop and shop card, and I had a coupon for 10 more cents off (so I paid 2.50)

the cumberland farms near my house, for mid grade, is charging 2.59.

the mobile around the corner from my office...in Fairfield County, CT...2.75 for mid.

I see 3.00 for premium within the next 6 weeks.

Gas is over $3.00 in parts of New York City now :guilty:

I am wondering if I can get a family sized bicycle to drive the kids to school and soccer.
