When will Canada's Wonderland open up?

At this point we're starting to eat into "peak" season. School's out, and you'd have thousands of people going to the park daily. The breakeven point has to be sometime soon.
Doubt there will be a break even point this year with limited capacity. Their best hope would be if they can get Winterfest to happen.

Just an update. Wonderland can't open til phase 3 and they don't think phase 3 will happen before the end of July.

They have added new job postings for fall/winter positions in addition to the lifeguard/water park positions posted in mid June.

I think they are going to extend their season into September if they do open. So instead of just weekends weekdays will be open too. It all depends on when Ontario moves to stage 3. From reports its looking like that might be by the end of the month.

Now there is talk Wonderland may not open in stage 3 as there is reports that Amusement Parks are high risk.

I think they would have staffing challenges trying to operate on fall weekdays. So many of their seasonal staff are students.

Looks Wonderland won't be opening this year. Theme parks are not part of stage 3

They did say if places submitted a plan to open safely it would be considered by the minister of health. But I doubt it will open.

I don't see Wonderland opening this Summer, too risky. La Ronde is opening in Montreal on July 25th, but I think that is a mistake.

https://www.pne.ca/playland2020/Playland opened here in Vancouver on Friday. It is only open Fri/Sat/Sun, you must book a 4 hour time slot online and there are only 12 rides open at the moment. Masks mandatory on rides and waiting in lines. It's a small amusement park compared to Canada's Wonderland, of course.

Ottawa has been in Phase 3 for a few weeks and Calypso Waterpark has yet to open up. They had instructions and protocols up on their site for quite some time as they were expecting to be included in this phase. They are waiting on final approval which is taking longer than expected. The approval process seems to take a long time.

Looks like the water parks won't be able to open this summer (Calypso, the one at Wonderland, I assume there are others in Ontario?) It is kind of sad, I am not sure if Calypso will be able to recover from it, they had already put a lot of money into their reopening plans.

Not sure what it will mean for Wonderland proper, they still haven't been allowed to open but I am guessing their season can run longer since you can still go if you need to wear a sweater :) but who knows.

Canada’s Wonderland does stay open through the fall, they always have the popular Halloween Haunt - my DD and her friends went last year for the first time and had so much fun. I doubt they can have that again though, hard to socially distant when it’s dark and you are frightened, lol. They also had their new family friendly Winterfest this past year, that might still be a possibility. But it looks like the summer season will not be happening. https://www.cp24.com/news/canada-s-...season-due-to-covid-19-restrictions-1.5053097

Little upset about CW right now. They are blasting the Gov about not being able to open. Every other business has been great and understanding about being very cautious about when and how to open. The Gov right now does not see having lots of people at a park as safe. How is one supposed to keep a mask on while screaming on a rollercoaster. That is loads of droplets coming out. Not sure if you want to be at the back of a coaster as the front person is spewing out of their mouth. Yumm...Yes I know its a hardship to be closed, but lets be responsible.

I don’t go to Canada’s Wonderland so it doesn’t really affect me. However, I find it interesting that they are still closed but Ripley’s, which in my opinion is one of the most congested attractions around, is allowed to be. And they are indoors which is deemed to be less safe than outdoors. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the openings.

So Ripleys and Marineland and the Zoo all have opened, not that I am happy about it. This is because they are under the banner of Zoo and not rides. Marineland is not allowed to open their rides up for the same reason as CW is not allowed.

They would really need to limit attendance at Winterfest for them to open. We enjoyed It, but it was packed.

We’ve been to the Zoo several times now. It’s very easy to social distance, avoid others and spread out. :)

Ripleys? Yeah, that’s not a place I’d feel comfortable going to at the moment.

I find the waterparks strange, it's in the outside, they apparently had plans in place for keeping people socially distanced in lines, attendants wouldn't be able to help/touch people. And chlorine kills everything (including Covid from what I understand, it's why certain types of wipes work while others do not). It just makes me a little sad, that's all, I was hoping to go once as something to do this summer. I can still go over to the water park in Quebec, they have been allowed to open and I'm not aware of any outbreaks linked to them doing so.

Agree about Ripley's though, we went once (5 years ago) and it was so packed, even if you didn't want to move along you had no choice with the mass of people pushing you in one direction at their pace. Kiddo was not impressed.
