When will Canada's Wonderland open up?

Anyone have any thoughts as to when Canada's Wonderland will open up. Do you think we will have to wait until Toronto is at Phase 2 or 3 (or longer)?

I agree. Even if allowed to open, I don't know if all of the enhanced safety investments that they would have to make would pay off for a seasonal park. They may just wait until next year and hope some of the restrictions are eased. Universal and Disney have all year round revenue instead of just 3 or 4 months.

I think the one thing you "might" see open there is the water park.

I work in the entertainment industry and there was a call out for "Entertainment Ushers" by Cedar Fair Entertainment in Vaughn (Wonderland) posted on a casting job board last week.

The posted closes June 19th so I think they are going to try and open by July but using a similar sort of protocol that Universal Studios used last week

The ad reads

Responsibilities
Provide effective crowd management by staying alert to the build up of lines and traffic flow in and around assigned facility
Maintain smooth operation of the facility, accurate show attendance counts and positive rapport with guests and employees
Perform specific duties as assigned for the cleaning of the facility
Ensure all safety standards and practices are met

Wow that sounds like good news and something to be optimistic for. I doubt it would happen but will gladly go if they open up with good policies

About a month ago, I got an email from Cedar Fair Entertainment asking me (as a seasons passholder) to complete a survey and provide feedback on a few topics, mainly surrounding Covid-19. Maybe they are looking to open up later in the summer, in a later phase, with reduced capacity especially in the very popular water park area.

I had read an online news article few weeks ago that they were going to try to open late summer into the late fall.

I hope it will open in late summer (since they've rolled all 2020 season passes into 2021) but I don't know that the economics of a seasonal theme park will support that.

Seems if you buy an AP for this year it is extended for next year too, so even if they open for just part of the summer it will be worth it to buy.

Hope you got a gold pass or higher as they will be the pass holders with the best chance at reservations when the park does open. I personally don't see the park opening til August if at all.

I was looking at the other Cedar Fair Ammusmant parks, and the one that opened today (Schlitterbahn) and the one scheduled to open later this month (Worlds of Fun ) and ones in early July (Kings Island, Cedar Point) Have a reservation system this is not distinguishing between Anual Pass Levels.

While it's good to know. I think that's one thing the Cedar Fair parks don't do enough for and that is their platinum pass holders. Wonderland doesn't even mention it.

My daughter saw on IG that Canada’s Wonderland is hoping to open soon. They are now hiring lifeguards and on June 11th there was a new position posted “Health and Safety - Waterparks”. Maybe they are planning to open up only the water park sections!

From what I understand, waterparks will be able to open in Phase 3, so that could be soon? Or it could be ages to go still! I do hope the local one is able to open, and the restrictions aren't too bad. If they limit people it may be hard to get to go just because of work hours and stuff.

Phase three or Stage three?

We found a virtual fireworks show last night from wonderland. It had a preshow where they showed the current setup at Wonderland. They are testing rides, have temp check tents, social distancing measures, etc. I still don't know how they will actually open but it seems like they are going to try. I sure hope they greatly limit the number of people.

They will have a reservation system to keep capacity low. IMO the best way would be those with season passes should only be allowed this season.

Wonderland season is essentially over by the Labour Day. It will become economically futile with each day being lost... I am sure by mid July, they will just give up... It's not worth spending over a million dollars setting up distancing and hiring, only to have 3 or 4 weeks to make that money back.

That said, I still wish they will reopen for 2020.

At this point we're starting to eat into "peak" season. School's out, and you'd have thousands of people going to the park daily. The breakeven point has to be sometime soon.
