When will '09 dates be released?

Maybe my girls are different or it could be because we live a couple of hours from the "Water Park Capital of the World - Wisconsin Dells" and go quite often but they have no interest in the pools and slide on the ships. They think they are too small and crowded for any real fun. They love the ship itself and the kids clubs. So use of the pool would not be a deal breaker for my family.
Yep! I'm guessing your girls are in the minority!;) Whether or not they would be dissappointed just looking at the pools and not actually swimming in them, the majority of the other kids on board would probably be pulling on the parents sleeves asking, "why can't we swim?" I'll admit even DH and I would be a little dissapointed too! :rolleyes1

Yep, I figured my girls were in the minority!!:) They love Castaway Cay though, DH and I usually have to almost drag them out of the water when it's time return to the ship.

How far in advance would one need to book using DVC points for a 2009 cruise? I know there are limited ressies for DVC members. :goodvibes

Been to Alaska in July-August, and weather was fine (shorts abd t-shirts), although the mosquitoes were huge!
Our kids could also care less about the pools on the ships - way low on the priority list. Too small and too crowded!
Love Castaway Cay though!:thumbsup2

I thought my DD was the only one who saw the pools as "nice, but not a necessity" lol...

I always find the pool comments rather strange - I mean, it's not like you can't go to a pool on land - it's the ship that's the draw for us! :)

But to each his own! :goodvibes

I figured there had to be more kids like mine who were not into the ships pools. ;)

while my kids enjoy the pools, especially if we go when ours are closed at home (We only have pools available from end of May-end of August in our town). The pooos are not the draw for us. It is the ship, the great kids clubs (can't drag my children away) and castaway cay!!

I am anxiously awaiting the dates now. I just found out that my children's spring break will match up with my spring break for grad school so I am hoping to switch to spring break to get better connecting cabins and a bit cheaper of a rate, our NYE rate is outrageous. We will pay it if we can't switch though. I can't wait until we get to see the Magic, we've never sailed on her.

Looks like we have to wait to early December for the first bookings being made available.

We're in Disney from 25th Nov to 2nd Dec, then on the Wonder from 2nd to 6th Dec, then back in Disney till 10th. Hope things don't get released till after we get home. Without this board I will have no idea what is happening!:confused3

1/ That sounds like a great trip, have a good one.

2/ The following years dates have come out earlier before, usually DCL has released the first quarter, (ie January to April-2009) by now.

We are told they are coming out early December so on past performance a dealy, not sure why, or if ALL, 2009 cruises or just first part are released at that time.

My guess you are cutting it fine, by reports your holiday is in that zone.

These boards will get 'more hints' before then.

I guess if it is when we are on the cruise then all would be well with booking!!! If we know before, then I can instruct DU anyway and wait!!

Yes ask DU to keep an eye on it for you,

Now what we know:-

We know 'on ship' they are saying the Magic WILL stay closer to home.
The Dis podcast says Alaska.
One Travel agent of high reputation says CARIBBEAN in 2009.
On ship they say NOT the Med.
Captain hinted in the summer about Northern Europe that seems dead now.

So Alaska or Caribbean. I now side with Caribbean, but longer cruises, there is a chance up to Bermuda and New York?.

But I think on the lines of the Wonder cruises a few years back for 10/11 nights to southern Caribbean.

I did one on Princess a few years back.

  • Fort Lauderdale.
  • St Marten
  • St Lucia
  • Barbados
  • Martinique
  • St Thomas
  • Princess cays- Bahamas
  • FL.

11 nights that would be great for the Magic, remember 10/11 nights were popular in the Med.

I have also cruised to Jamaica, on Princess, and Curacao on DCL, and in 2008 Aruba with DCL, maybe these could be included or alternatives?

I must have missed a lot of posts on this as I hadn't seen about the rumour of the longer Carribean cruises, but that would suit me down to the ground!

No one has said LONGER, but lots of hints staying in the Caribbean, so my take on it, I would expect them to do something special, thats an alternative that might happen if the stayed.

Last time they stayed in the Caribbean for the summer they had 'double dip' cruises calling at CC twice and Costa Maya.

My point there are lots of Caribbean ports DCL has called at only a few times and they all have been successful and also pulled all the stops out for DCL. Sensible to go back to establish themselves maybe for a third ship and then they could offer, 3/4 7 and 10/11 night Caribbean cruises like other cruise lines.
