Tuesdays and Thursdays: Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge, located at the northern tip of Hilton Head Island, is a unique location full of Lowcountry history and natural beauty. This tour explores three different habitats: the Salt Marsh, the Maritime Forest, and a fresh water lagoon. The island’s Ibis Pond lagoon is known for its active wading-bird rookery which offers great bird watching opportunities between April and August. The island is also rich in cultural history and was home to General Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, a signer of the United States Constitution. Adult $12; Child $7 (ages 4-12). November 6: They rocked Poseidon’s rooftop once before and now they’re back. Badfish will perform their “Tribute To Sublime,” channeling the spirit of Sublime with a fury not felt for some time. What separates Badfish from other tribute bands is that they have replicated Sublime’s essence, developing a scene and dedicated following most commonly reserved for label-driven, mainstream acts. They make their mark on the audience by playing with the spirit of Sublime. They perform not as Sublime would have, or did, but as Badfish does.The doors open at 6 p.m. and Sundried-Vibes will kick the night off at 9 p.m., with Badfish taking the stage to rock the night away right after. November 7 -11: Les Bonnes Artistes, French for “The Good Artists,” came together over lunch to help 10 female artists keep on submitting for art exhibitions around the Lowcountry, and soon, they all banded together to create their exciting new multimedia exhibition, “Fresh Strokes.”
The Coastal Discovery Museum will host 10 female artists that have banded to present a multimedia program of “Fresh Strokes” from November 7-January 14. The exhibition contains watercolors and oils, acrylics, collage and monoprints. The subjects in this exhibition range from abstract to representational art, landscapes and figures.
The ten artists include Joyce Nagel, Jo Dye, Joanna Chalson, Anne Coughlin, Evelyn Kowtko, Doris Shay, Barbara Spencer, Dorothy Steelman, Emily Wilson and Irene Williamson. This show is an opportunity for the artists to express their particular interests and present a generous diversity of works to be enjoyed. All work is for sale by the artists and the exhibit is no charge for admission.
Saturdays: The Coastal Discovery Museum presents a Shrimp Trawling Expedition for the fall months. This interactive cruise will take you from Hudson’s Dock out into Port Royal Sound where you’ll have a chance to see how a shrimp trawler works – and find out about all the critters that can be found in its nets. An informative and fun experience, plus, you’ll have a chance to share in the ‘catch’ and might take some shrimp home! Times vary for these cruises. November 7: Captain Woody’s is hosting a delicious Oyster Roast, but oysters aren’t the only thing on the menu! Burgers, hot dogs and all kinds of Happy Hour specials will be available. Live music starts at 4 p.m., the roast ends at 7 p.m. and a portion of proceeds help the Hilton Head Humane Association. November 8: Meet some pups at the Four Legged Frolic at the The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa from 5:30-9:30 p.m. This spectacular social event features live music by The Headliners as well as a silent auction and helps ensure a brighter future for the dogs and cats of the Lowcountry. November 10: The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Wallace Jenkins on November 10 at 3 p.m. for “Where have all the yellowfin gone?” Formerly abundant in the South Carolina offshore recreational catch, yellow fin virtually disappeared off our coast by 2006. They have rarely been seen again. Jenkins, the Associate Director of the Office of Fisheries Management Division of South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, will offer a brief look at international fishery management and its glacial pace of management actions and decisions.
This program is offered to complement the traveling exhibition, “The Great Sporting Fish” which is at the Museum from October 1 through December 31. The exhibition features paintings by Stanley Meltzoff who was universally regarded the all-time preeminent painter of game fish in salt water. In 1960, he started painting fish in their natural environments for Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, and Field & Stream. For years Meltzoff dove around the world to view the great species of billfish for pictorial series on sailfish, blue marlin, white marlin, striped marlin, black marlin and swordfish.

November 11: The Mary Green Men’s Chorale (MGMC) will present a Veteran’s Day Concert, 7:30 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 24 Pope Ave. “Songs of the Sea” Sea shanties, excerpts from HMS Pinafore & South Pacific plus a tribute to Veterans of each branch. Benefiting Backpack Buddies, a program of the Homeless Coalition, & the Junior Navy ROTC.
MGMC is a group of selected singers who exploit the powerful expressiveness of an all-male chorus singing a cappella and accompanied. Led by a nationally acclaimed director, themed vocal music is enhanced by readings, visual effects, director commentary and instrumentals. MGMC donates the net proceeds of every concert to the named charity partners. MGMC seeks to provide outreach in the community by taking programs to schools, retirement homes and civic groups.

November 21: A Hilton Head Island holiday tradition for over 20 years, the Dove Street Festival of Lights returns to Shelter Cove Towne Centre for the 2015 holiday season! With the blessing of founders Paul and Kristi Beckler and Rob Lolik, visitors from across the region can experience the magic of the cascading and tastefully tacky Hilton Head Christmas lights display. The 2015 season will add the new Shelter Cove Community Park to the amazing display of over 70,000 lights! Enjoy nightly holiday entertainment and fun for all ages. Presented by Kroger and the merchants of Shelter Cove Towne Centre, the Dove Street Festival of Lights will run from Nov. 21, 2015 through Jan. 3, 2016 and will be open to the public nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Deep Well Project and PEP (Programs for Exceptional People) will be accepting donations onsite.
November 26: Start your Thanksgiving holiday with a “Fun Walk, 5K or 10K at the 2015 Turkey Trot. The Island Recreation Association is teaming with Go Tri Sports to put on this family-oriented event. All races begin and end at the Chart House parking lot near the back entrance of Hilton Head Plantation. The after party will be held at the Chart House restaurant parking lot as well. All proceeds from the race go to the Island Recreation Association’s scholarship fund.

November 28: Are you ready to ROCK? Then get ready for Silicone Sister, for one night only, at Poseidon’s Rooftop Bar! This stadium/glam rock band is reliving the glory days of the ’80s with rock ‘n’ roll. If you haven’t seen them yet, then make plans to do so because they’re unlike any other band on the island.
