Mine was this weekend!:goodvibes

Friday I was talking to my DSis. She and her husband, their oldest DD and DD's husband were going to a casino in a neighboring state, with one of their neighbor's and his DW. My niece and her DH have 2 young children and were going to leave them with her brother, who is in his late 20's and the kids adore! The kids had the sniffles so I told my DSis and niece, don't worry, just have nephew call me if he needs me. I'll be your back-up.

They left Saturday, early afternoon for their trip. My youngst DS was scheduled for work at 5:00 PM Saturday. I thought I would go to the movies while he was at work. There was nothing I was interested in seeing. Then it hit me, I could get in the car, drive to the casino, and surprise them!:thumbsup2

My GPS took me on the silliest route! It decided to chose Rt. 250 instead of taking me down 77 S to 70 E. I have never been on such winding roads!:scared1:

Anyway, my plan was to drive down, arrive around 7:30 PM, gamble a little, drive back, all in one night!

I got down there and, while looking for my sister, ran into a co-worker and his wife! What are the odds?;)

So we talked a little bit and I went looking for sis again. I found her sitting at a slot machine. I slowly walked up on her and looked over her shoulder and said, "Are you winning anything"? She was so surprise to see me!

Then my niece showed up, all glad to see her Aunt and then she stopped and said, "Hey, you're suppose to be my back-up"! :rotfl: We had a good laugh over that!

DSis and DBIL wouldn't hear of me driving back at such a late hour so I crashed in their room.

Luckily, before I left home I had left youngest DS a note: "Gone gambling. Be home before 7:00 AM Love, Mom".

I did not win anything and lost some but I had a ball!:) Of course I was dragging all day Sunday!;)

That is awesome! Sounds like you had a great weekend!

In July, I took a trip to WDW with my DD and her friend. We called for reservations on Saturday and drove down on Sunday. Spent three nights and left on Wednesday morning. Very spur of the moment.

:) I've never done anything like that, but I long to. I have a job, a puppy, an old dog, a husband, a first grader and a teenager that keep me firmly planted and on a schedule from which I can't stray much.

It sounds like such a blast, though, and so carefree!

Saturday DFiance and I decided to get in the car and go to Magic Kingdom!

It was amazing.. and so much more exciting than planning a trip for over a year. I'm so grateful we had the opportunity.

I went to Miami on a day trip with my boyfriend in May. It's at least an 8 hour round trip although it actually took us 12 hours. He was towing a boat for work and the trailer it was on blew a tire, so he had to change it and then he had to drive slower than normal. It was fun even with that problem and with the fact that it started raining. It was also his 50th birthday.

Back in July, DH and I were on vacation but were not traveling. One night we decided we were in the mood for good corned beef sandwiches. DH is a train buff and had wanted to ride on the Acela Express but hadn't yet had a reason to. We decided to take care of both desires in the same day so DH reserved our train tickets that night. We took Acela from CT to NY the next morning, had great sandwiches at a New York Deli, then took the train home. In our neck of the woods, Acela never gets near its top speed, but it was still a nice ride. Those were likely the most expensive sandwiches we will ever have, but it was a very fun day.

DH, a friend & myself bought tickets on JetBlue to fly to Baltimore for the DAY because they were only $9 each way. :rotfl2: No reason to go & didn't have a previous desire to go. Just, the tickets were $9 and sale would be over in a few hours. LOL

Our day in Baltimore will be this Wednesday. :thumbsup2

We didn't have a vacation anywhere this year. Not even day trips. So, this will be it. :)

someday I will...right now there is too much on the calendar to be spontaneous!!

Well mine is not travel as others have posted... instead I flew home to my Boston home (Aug 5th)...which had been on the r.e. market for 6 months...took it off the market...called a property management firm...had the house all rented in 24 hours...then proceeded for two straight weeks to clean out the entire (2400 sq ft) house. I sold every single piece of furniture, had two very successful moving/yard sales and donated many items to a shelter. I had all my East coast family help me. Flew back to CA on August 27th feeling like I had accomplished allot.

This was spontaneous for me as I really had not thought about going in the direction of renting the house AND when I realized winter was around the corner I felt if it was not sold by Sept it would sit empty. Just on a whim called this property management firm right in my town and they handle everything soup to nuts as far as renting the property. If was ALLOT of work in those two very HOT and HUMID weeks BUT I am just so happy it turned out the way it did.

Hmmm, spontaneous you say? I rarely have the luxury of doing anything spontaneously, due to our disabled family members (everything requires a good bit of planning and packing, even to go out to the movies.) So I guess the last spontaneous thing I did was when I ran away from home back in January. I just took a left on I-75 and drove until I hit Tennessee. Of course, the rest of *that* story is I was manic at the time and my ill-thought-out plan was to live in a homeless shelter and get a job in a nursing home where nobody would know me. :confused3 In my state of mind it didn't occur to me how skewed my thinking was. Thank goodness my sister called me on my cell phone. She was able to redirect me and shortly after that I was on my way to the hospital for a "tune up.":upsidedow

Well it was almost spontaneous! My brother called me one day while i was getting my classroom ready and asked if i wanted to go skydiving the next day! I said yes and the next morning we were on our way, when it got cancelled due to weather--we went the next weekend!!

"Spontaneous"

is that even a real word? :lmao:

My dd's and my schedule keep us pretty tied down to our house.

But.. a few weekends ago a friend texted me if I would like to go to comedy club with her, she said her teenage dd would watch my dd. So off we went - had a great time!!

Last September I picked up dd and instead of drving her home we went and spent the night and next day at DL.

But for the most part my life is pretty predictable :scared1: ----- and I love every minute of it.

I booked a flight to Las Vegas on a one day notice to meet someone from the Dis I had never met before. We had a great weekend and we've been to Las Vegas a few times since.

I was living in Seattle Washington and visiting northern California one August. I had met a guy once briefly the year before through my sister who lived in NorCal. When I called to tell her I was coming for a visit a year later I asked her if that guy I had met was available for a date. He was.

We went on a dinner date one night in August. I left to go back to Washington the next day. He came to Seattle and visited me in September for 5 days. In October I visited him for about a week.

After the week in October, I went home, packed all my belongings and moved to California to be with him.

We were married less than a year later and today is our 25th wedding anniversary. :goodvibes

I've had many other spontaneous moments in my life but, for me, that tops the list!

DH & I wanted to have a few days on a tropical beach & 24 hour later we were there.

smiley,

That is awesome!!!:goodvibes

Congratulations!!!:)
