When we book?

We are going to be doing a VR for our 10th anniversary. I know we will need to book either March 15, 2012, or June 15, 2012 depending on which package we book.

My question is, do we need to have the locations picked out and a "basic" idea of what we want when we call to put the deposit down? We are looking at everything now, but, I would think we will have questions before booking, but, we want the location. YKWIM?

You can (and should) contact DFTW prior to the date you are eligible to sign a contract. It takes some time to be assigned a sales consultant, draw up a room block (if you're doing one), and draw up the LOA (contract) before you send in the deposit. You need to have your locations picked when you sign the LOA so they can confirm availability and hold the space. The time between getting your sales consultant and signing the contract would be when all the questions about locations occur. Some people contact DFTW when they are already within their booking timeframe, but if you have a specific date in mind, I'd contact them before your booking date so you can sort out the locations and ensure availability.

Hmm, so, should I contact them on Monday?

We would like to book March 15, 2013. Seems so far away, but, if you can book a year in advance, that is coming quickly, especially with the holidays approaching. I've read on here about "penciling in" what does that mean?

It will just be a party of 5--us and our 3 girls.

We have it narrowed down to a couple of places for the ceremony, but, we are clueless when it comes to everything else.

Which package are you looking at? Memories would make sense given your small party, but that is not (at the moment) available beyond April.

My advice would be to contact DFTW as soon as possible. You will need to know your location for them to check availability.

We are looking at the Escape package, unless the Memories package is available, then we would probably go with that.

We want a ceremony, then a nice lunch/dinner depending on when we have the ceremony, and then a desert celebration in Epcot (where my DH proposed to me!). I also would like to do pictures in the MK if that is possible. Is is possible with the smaller packages?
