Just wondering. Can we go to our room and drop off our carry-ons? How about leaving them in the hallway? Would they be safe?

It depends on what time you get onto the ship. If you're among the first to board you will be directed to Parrot Cay or Topsiders to eat. They really discouraged us from trying to go to our rooms. We were among the first to board as we were in a Cat. 2 room. They put your luggage inside your room. I suppose you could "pretend" to go up to Topsiders and then go down to your room and put your stuff in then go back up to eat. HTH

Just not sure how the bringing on of drinks will work, if we end up carrying them on ourselves will most likely be ready to get rid of them as soon as we board. Im hoping to be at the port by 1030am before the buses. Of course not dropping off/leaving valuables in the hallway, just thinking of our drinks/soda cans marked w/our room number.

On our last two cruises we got on about 12:30 or so and asked if we could leave our carry on's in our room and they said sure. So we went up to the cabin, got changed/droppped off the carry ons and headed up to topsiders. Our luggage did not arrive until around 5pm it was in the hall outside our door.

Typically, you are ok to go to your stateroom by 1 pm. We had a cat 9 , and all of our luggage was directly outside it by 1:15..

My advice: If you board by 12, and want reservations for Palo, Vista Spa, or Flounders, get those out of the way, then go to your stateroom...

I heard from someone on this board that the guys who take your lugger (porters I think they are called) will put a sticker on your 12 pack of soda for you and have that deliverd to your room with your luggage.

We have early seating---would getting luggage at 5 pm not be a slight problem ? We're a family of 6--which means alot to unpack. I may need to press a few clothes. I'm particularily concerned if we get Tritons as our first dinner night because that's the dinner we want to dress up a little more for. We'll be on the Nov 3 Wonder cruise (Yeah !). Has anyone ever had luggage delivered later than 5 pm ? Hope not

Maria, don't worry, even if for some reason you DON'T get your bags in time for dinner, they make a point of announcing that you can come to dinner the first night in whatever you are wearing to board.

We did get our bags at about 5:15 one time but most of the time they are outside our door by 3:00.

And you can drop your bags IN your room (don't leave them outside) once you board, even if your stateroom is not ready yet. Typically they are ready between 1:00 and 1:30 pm.

We always just check beverages with luggage . Have only had plastic bottles or cans -no glass bottles. Porter attached a tag with room #. This will be our 4 cruise and it has never been a problem. We had a 12 pk. of soda and a 12 pk. of water. I taped them together with heavy duty clear tape. They were delivered with out luggage to our room.

Thanks Michelle. This may push me to dress us all a little nicer than we might normally just in case we do have to wear the clothes we boarded with to dinner. I wouldn't want to feel too underdressed at dinner---mostly for Tritons.

If this is the case, maybe we'll keep our suitcase with our dinner clothes with us instead of checking it as I planned ? We're planning on being at the terminal around noon. If I can get into my stateroom when I board, this might just work the best. Thanks again.

I think not getting luggage in time to dress for early dinner is an exception to the normal timing and doesn't happen often. We have stayed in several areas of the ship and have always had all our luggage before the 4 p.m. fire drill or soon after. I would put this way down on my list of things to worry about. This was very high on my list before our 1st cruise - now I worry about how we're all going to fit back into our rental car after eating all those yummy meals and snacks on the cruise!LOL! Have a memorable trip!

I put a luggage tag on a case of beer and tried to check it with the porters. I was told NO!
No problem, I just put it on my wheeled luggage cart with the rest of our carry on stuff and wheeled it on board.
Like so many other things, it seems to change depending on who you speak to.

LOL.....thanks for the input Sandee.....this issue, as you put it, is now bottom of my list of concerns. This is our first cruise so I'm obsessing a little about things here and there. Thanks again !

I put our drinks in a soft cooler with no ice and they took it at the port for me...We also happened to be inside the room when our luggage came..they knocked on the door and brought it in to us.

Maria, I was so worried before our 1st cruise I even dreamed we got left in Nassau and were forced to swim to Castaway Cay. I woke up and was exhausted...must have swam all night!!.LOL! We took my aunt on cruise #2 and her biggest worry was "what if there's a fire??" and believe it or not we actually had a small motor fire on that cruise. My aunt saw crew members with fire gear and then heard the captain's calm announcement that it was just a smoking over -heated motor her eyes got as big as saucers. She said , "why aren't they sending us to get our life vests, why aren't we being sent to our life boat areas?" ...my DD and I were cracking up because in her frenzy my aunt had forgotten we were docked at St. Martins!! LOL! ....I actually think the planning and anticipation before the trip is half the fun.

I was under the impression that one of the first things to do when boarding was to go to your room to find out your dining rotation so you know when to schedule Palo's (Which was supposedly the second thing you line up for when you board!). Is that wrong?

Paul

Actually, the key card you are issued when you sign in has letters in the corner showing your dining rotation I believe. Don't have an old card with me so I couldn't swear to this, but am sure someone else will let me know if I'm wrong.

If you have th land/sea package your KTTW card will not have the dining info because it will be the same one used at the resorts. If you are cruisin gonly it will be printed on your card. THey will tell you your rooms will not be available until after 1:00 or so even though boarding starts around noon. Most people who board first take their carry on stuff with then to lunch and then check on their rooms.
