Just thinking back to our first visit......

1995 - 2 weeks in some random hotel off the I4 (we chose a package whereby we didn't know which hotel we were staying in!!!)

flights/accom/car and insurance for a bargain price of £500 quid each!

And i'm sure we got 2 quid to the dollar! :cool1:

oh how i wish it was still that cheap to go ;)

Last year my boyfriend & I went for the first time in June.
Thomas Cook - return flights from MAN, 21 nights @ Clarion Inn, 14 days WDW tickets, 14 day Uni tickets, transfers, insurance.... £2000 exactly!
We got such a good deal for the two of us..understandably we did fly with TC & stayed at a cheaper hotel but it was amazing :)
This year we have paid twice that but we are flying with virgin and staying @ POR

My first visit was in 97 with my parents, stayed in all stars and paid £1800 for four of us two kids two adults 14 nights with tickets this was with portland direct

My first visiti alone was 11 years ago with my hubby and we paid 1500 for virgin holidays package to all stars with tickets but no car

This year two addults and two kids we are paying £5200 for 15 nights okw one bed villa, tickets and virgin flights

My first time was in february 1991.
It was with my parents, they didn't care much about Disney, so I only managed to convince them to go to MK and EPCOT (1 day each) and we skipped MGM that year (I came back with a vengeance the following year(s) :) )

I have absolutely no idea how much it cost then. We stayed offsite (obviously) at an hotel called "Continental Plaza". There is one on Idrive with that name, but looking at the photos it's definitely not the same hotel. I think ours was more like on 192 (but those memories are hazy) ETA : actually that's the same hotel just across of wet'n'wild, only there is now a builiding on what used to be the parking lot between the hotel and the road (idrive)

the only thing I can tell for sure, is by the parking receipt I still keep as a souvenir, and it says $3 for parking, I also have a ticket for 1 day priced at $33 ... those were the days Disney was affordable ... :)

1981 for me. My father had been dispatched to the West coast of the States on a business trip and decided to take advantage of having one air fare paid. 2 adults & me and my sister. We were the first children from our school to go to DisneyWorld. We were questioned like we had been to the moon when we got back by all the other kids at school. Very very lucky.

To this day the old man still raises a glass to Freddie Laker. Without him - we wouldnt have got over there. No idea what it cost (didnt matter when you are 11 after all!).

Only Magic Kingdom open then of course. We stayed opposite Wet n wild on I Drive. Still got fabulous memories of that trip.

Took me 20 years to get back under my own steam. Probably a bit late but thanks Dad. :thumbsup2

My first adult trip was £799 for two weeks in POP including DDP.

No idea how much my parents paid when I was younger, but at today's prices I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to afford to go!

our first visit was in 1994 to POFQ, two weeks and I THINK it was around about £1200 with park tickets, transfers to and from the airport.

We booked it through Kuoni Travel and got a free 1st upgrade with BA. That's never happened since!!:)

Edited.........DH just informed me it was about £900!

Our first trip was in 2000, flying virgin, 14 nights at allstar movies and unlimited disney ticket for 2 of us was £1800. Booked through the news of the world special offer with virgin.

1997 and no idea...

Latest trip was £550 for 10 nights flight and hotel in the school holidays. That was Easter 2013.

First trip was 1994 (I think) may have been 1992.

We stayed at "Econolodge Maingate West" on US 192 in Kissimmee. It later changed to Howard Johnson Maingate West and is now Champions World Resort.

We had an Airtours package deal £499 per person, car, hotel, insurance, flights. I remember when we were coming into land on the plane, they told us to look out to our left or right (don't remember which) and we'd see Disney World and as we did it, they played Whistle While You Work over the speakers. It was our first little spark of Disney Magic!

2007 2 adults and 1 child at port Orleans with virgin holidays was £2700. we had free dining too.

First trip was in November 1999, we stayed for 2 weeks at ASMO and paid £900 each which included Virgin flights and 2 weeks passes. Couldn't even get the flight for that price now!!

1987 my best friend and I booked two weeks at the Sheraton World Hotel which is now the Doubletree at Sea World. 6 weeks before we went she pulled out, I think she got spooked about paying so much and being so far away from home, we were only 18. Thankfully my mum said she would come. We paid £700 each for 2 weeks on British Airways package. I honestly cant remember how much tickets were but there were only 2 Disney parks then. We were so disorganized and I remember turning up at the parks late and they were so packed we couldn't ride anything. It was a big disappointment and to be honest we just ended up spending most of the time at the pool which was lovley. My best friend and I went back 2 years later for 3 weeks on a Club 18-30 (seriously) and spent the last week in Fort Lauderdale. Great holiday but we were too young to drink. We must be the only 2 girls to have been on one of those holidays and not get drunk!
Took another 16 years before I went back and in less than 2 weeks will be my 12 trip, 10th with my family. I think this trip has cost about £6000 and spending money on top of that. Alot of money but still excellent value I think as we have tickets to all the parks including Discovery Cove and will be there for 22 night.

back in April 1974 - you think i remember how much it was???????????????????

one thing's for sure, it was a whole lot less..

that was back in the days of the a,b,c,d,e tickets, so it was very different...

and we camped out in tent in Fort Wilderness - i'm sure it was cheap..

although that was the first week with my university friend..

the second week i stayed at the contemporary resort with my mom, dad and sister...so i'm sure it was more, but still certainly a whole lot cheaper than today..

after all, that was 40 years ago!!!!!! (and i was 18 - bet you can figure out how old am today! ;) )

i just remembered, the post above was my first visit to WDW, but i was at disneyland once before that - 2 years earlier...so that would have been in 1972 or something like that...
i can look it up....it was when the university of michigan was in the rose bowl (against stanford),..

yup...i just looked it up...it was in 1972....
we had tickets to the rose bowl, but we gave them away and went to disneyland instead!!!!!!! i can hear all those men falling over as they read that!

Christmas 1998 with my parents (3 adults) 21 nights. All Star Sports, Flex Feature Disney Tickets, car hire, Universal and Busch Gardens tickets, booked with Unijet.....£3k (this was staying over the whole of Xmas!)

1990.

Though it was a Miami/Barbados twin centre, our honeymoon.

We for some reason couldn't get a flight with Virgin to Orlando, they didn't go from Manchester then.
However, from our Miami Sunny Isles hotel we booked a 2 day excursion to Orlando and did a few of the parks.

Not sure on total cost, can't remember, might have been around £800 each for the flights/hotels/transfers - we didn't hire a car.

Been back I think 14 times since (DH says it's 12 :)) , recently have been to DLP 4 times, partly because son has been ill on recent flights - planning a return on Dreamliner next year.

To be honest the highlight was the fab Barbados hotel, right on the beach.
Low point was me getting sunstroke on Miami beach and being rushed to hospital - a few hours later we were back at the hotel and sent John out for a pizza, so all was ok in the end.

Don't remember that much about the theme parks to be honest, but been going to them nearly every year since so must have left a good impression on us.:flower3:

Well my first trip was in 1993, 2 weeks I-Drive. I'll have to ask my mum what she paid.

First grown up trip was 2009. We got 2 weeks AKL for £1300 (think it was a price glitch to be honest as I originally booked POFQ for £900 but then saw that AKL price one day as I kept on browsing and dreaming and it was never that low any other day!) then £560 total for flights (indirect with Delta)

So adding in tickets 2 weeks was just over £2k. Wouldn't happen again now!!

2006 booked via Expedia stayed on Hotel Bld with car hire I think it was about £1500 for the 2 of us.

2007 again booked via Expedia and stayed at Pop with car hire I think it was about £1800 for the 2 of us.

Both of those holidays combined were cheaper than our honeymoon in 2009 by a long long way.

1986 I went with my friend and we paid £1019 for 1 week at Disney incuding tickets and breakfast and then 2 weeks full board in Miami. There were only a couple of parks so a week was fine in Disney

I remember the cost as it was over a £1K and everyone was amazed that we paid that much for a holiday- we even had a little sideline selling cosmetics etc to make extra cash :rotfl2:

It was my first experience of a USA Halloween and I've been hooked with Halloween ever since. I've been having parties for years waiting for the rest of the UK to finally catch up and celebrate but now for the last 4 years we've been over there with the girls celebrating with Mickey!
