We just spent a long weekend at the Fort and were disappointed that we couldn't find the Lawnmover Tree (stump) anymore. We assume it was eventually removed after being cut back to a stump. Can someone tell me when, and why that happened?
It was there during our trip in June 2012. Was removed a few months afterwards. The tree had long died and there was nothing left but about 4 feet of rotting stump. Apparently it was dug up and turned into a golfcart parking spot. Shame, that lawnmower was actually in a part of the tree that we refer to as a "lighter knot". Those knots will last for a long time.

I agree! We also used those 'lightern knots' for 'kindling' for our wood fires when I was growing up in LA and they last 'forever' even in the south!!
It just probably got 'in the way' of Disney's 'plans/progress'! Remember that tree when it was relatively small and the lawnmower blade was very visible - sigh!
