When was the first time you felt "old"??

Many years ago I worked as a kindergarten teachers aide and years later when I was working for Publix several of those kids were old enough to work there ....and did!!! One even worked in my dept and he never could call me by my first name!!!LOL!!! I would always be Miss Laramore to him!!! I couldn't even get to use my married name!

When the music that you grew up on from the '70s and '80s is now playing on "oldies" stations!!! :earseek: :scared1: :faint:

That has happened to me more often than not, now! I'm now using an "oldies" station to get my fix of the songs I like!!!! Ouch!!!!!! :faint: :scared1:

Also, when the video games that you grew up playing are considered "retro" and "classic". Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :faint: :earseek:

When my doctor was younger than me:(

Having to explain what a record, a typewriter, and a rotary phone is to my kids.

And I'm not that old!!!

When the kids I used to babysit started graduating high school and college.

Right now after I injured my back and have not been able to get back to normal lifestyle for over 6 months. Not a day without pain. I feel old.

Now, you 20 somethings talking about old.......you ain't seen nuthin' yet!!!!!!!!!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_72.gif' border=0></a>

When one of my young teen nephews said "Who are they??" when I mentioned Laverne and Shirley.

Feeling old today because my DS turned 40. She's the oldest and realizing that we are all headed into our 40's is scary.

A disney "old" moment. We were at our hotel and I was going thru our itinerary information that I put together. I said, "honey, I have a note here that we have to bring ID to the hoop dee doo review for alcohol". DH says to me "honey, no offense but I don't think that you will have a problem.". I am 36 so he was of course right.

Ever since I was in my 20's, I keep the image of "old" ten years ahead of my age. As I grow older, so does my image of age.
That way I never have to face "being old". Do I do denial good or what??:teeth:

The first time I had a "Hot Flash"!

Just got info on that card yesterday, Dan!!!!:earseek: :teeth:

I remember thinking I was old when I turned 29. Here I am 50 so I've been old now for 21 years and counting!;)

For some reason... It really hit me when I realized that the majority of professional football players are all younger than me.

I don't know why - but I was floored when I realized that. Now I scour the rosters to try to find some "younger" than me.

...There aren't many... :(

I was in my later 20's, can't remember the specific age, and a teenager was waiting on me in the grocery store. She called me "ma'm" . I about cringed!

mine was similar to snoopy's ........ I was telling a young 20-somethng co-worker I was going to a Peter,Paul and Mary concert and got the quizzical look and "who are they" response:D

they're happening more frequently now... ... ...

Along the lines of hearing favorite music from school days on the "oldies station" - seeing the hits & trends on VH-1's "I love the 70's", and worse yet, "I love the 80's" retrospectives! :earseek:
Sitting there watching & reminiscing, and then realizing this stuff is 20+ years old - OUCH! Definitely an "I Feel Old" moment.

A painful reality check also happened this past Mother's Day. DH & I went "home" and saw friends we haven't seen since high school. We know they have kids older than ours, but to actually see how much the kids have matured....and how much their parents have aged - it was eye-opening.

"Retro" toys being rediscovered.... Cabbage Patch Dolls, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Ponies. AAARGH - check my mom's closets - I'll bet you'll find some of the originals still there!

the first time I was called Grandma at my DDs preschool. Ouch....my kids always stick-up for me and tell them "Oh, shes my mom."

So many stories here I can relate to!! I got a tetanus shot this week for a gardening-related injury.... I am turning 40 next week and realized I won't need another tetanus booster until I am FIFTY (50)!!! That's a scary thought! But now it seems that all of the "older" authority figures in my life are now younger than me.... my pastor, my doctor, my dentist, my kid's teachers...EVERYONE!!

DH has a funny story about aging.... he was in the local convenience store last summer. He noticed the teenage girl behind the counter "checking him out" and I'm sure that made him feel young.... until she said "You look familiar... are you so-and-so's Dad?" and he said "No... and btw, how old is so-and-so?" and she replied "Oh, about my age, 17 or so!" DH was about 36 at the time... not completely out of the running to be a parent to a child that age, but that was quite a blow to his ego!:p .................P

My younger brother's HS graduation, when one of his classmates bumped into me, turned around and said, "Oh, I'm sorry sir" :o :o

I was only 24 at the time.

My ring bearer just got his driver's license. I was at a family party and said THAT made me feel old. His mom just laughed and said how do you think I feel?? My flower girl now has 2 little ones of her own. (I was her flower girl. :teeth: )
