I turned 29 on Monday, and I had a big, "man I'm getting old" moment on Saturday. We had a neighborhood garage sale, in addition to DS's clothes and toys, I had a bunch of my clothes for sale. My mom finally made me take the rest of my "stuff" out of my old closet at her house (yearbooks, pictures, graduation cap and gown-what do you do with those things anyhow???) She also gave me my 8th grade graduation dress that has been hanging there for 15-16 years. It was black on top with a white and black polkadotted drop waist, big polka dot bow on the side (this was 1988...) I put a tag for 75 cents on it, thinking a little girl might want it for a dress up/play dress or something. These 3 teenaged girls were looking through the clothes and were FIGHTING over this dress! Exclaiming "this is really from the '80's I bet!" Well the girl who "won" the dress came over to pay for it and asked me if it felt weird to have old fashioned clothes come back in style again  I went on to tell her that it was a genuine 1988 dress and I wore it in eigth grade with my hair french braided with a big bow at the bottom of the braid :p I remember when bell bottoms came back in style when I was in high school (early '90's) I would have probably done the same thing if I had found some at a garage sale...

So when was your,"I'm getting old" moment???

RIGHT NOW!! Ha ha...seriously though, about a week ago when I realized that my 10 year high school reunion was coming up in 2 years....and I realized just how sore my body was from standing all day the previous day...and how tired I was from not going to bed at 9 p.m..... :)

And I'm only 25!!! :)

When kids I babysat were getting married and having their own families. My sons 2nd babysitter just moved to florida and is expecting. Gee. I feel old.

When I was writing a check at the grocery store and the cashier (a boy around 17 or so) looked at my name on the check and asked me if I was Chris's mother. Ummmm....no. And then I could not not stop myself from asking him, 'how old is Chris anyway?'. 'Oh, he's my age...seventeen'. :scared1: And the worst part is that I was only 27 at the time.....and I promise you, I do not look old for my age! I think I was traumatized for months after that.

had several,, but the one that really hit me hard lately was a few weeks ago when mom asked me if i was going to come home next spring to attend my 20th high schol reunion,, havent really seen any of my class mates since i moved from home down here , 74 miles south,, lol,, long ways huh, so i aint sure whether i'l go or not, but i digress, the first one had to be when we got custosdy of dw's preggers 16 yr old cousin 9 yrs ago,, and after triston was born hereing dw and i refered to as grandparents,,, i was 28 at the time,,lol... wayyyy to young:) then 3 years ago stepdaughter graduated from high school, another graduyated the next year, and last year the third one married( we have 5 we claim, 2 grands, 2 married, one in college, one at home)

About 2 years ago when I looked in the mirror. Now I know I'm not so old after all. :D

I remember when I was around 26 or so and my DH was coaching a select soccer team comprised of juniors and seniors from all over Chattanooga. One 17 or 18 year old young man called me Mrs. Powell. I was floored. I admire the manners, but wasn't quite ready for that title.

Oh, please, Jaimee and Steph! You guys are in your 20's! If you feel "old" now, wait'll you hit 40!

Remember--growing old isn't bad at all when you consider what the alternative is! ;)

I got my high school's 20th Reunion invitation--for a "Big Millenium Ball" in the year 2000. Well, duh, I graduated high school in 1980. Why I never thought of the significance of that before I got the invite, I'll never know.

Anyway, between that, being irritated by hip-hop music, and admitting to liking Rod Stewart's Great American Songbook CD's, I knew I had officially entered middle age.

When I realized I was old enough to be my best friends mother! (She's 23, I'm 40) When I realized I was old enough to be a grandmother without having had a child in high school! When I invited said best friend to go see Donny Osmond and she didn't know who he was. I told her I'd learned to type on an IBM Selectric. She didn't know what that was either.

Jaimee, one of those teenage girls could easily have been my daughter. :teeth:

every time she stars singing a "new" song and I realize it's a cover of something I loved in the 70's or 80's, I realize that I'm not a twentysomething anymore.

mine came when i found out what the children who i used to baby sit when i was 15 are up to now. I am only 28 now but the children i used to baby sit, well 1 has got married has 2 children already an another on the way, the others have gone onto university one to become a vet and the other to become a teacher.

When the children you babysit start having children and you don't that is when you feel old.

I used to take the elementary shool bus home when I was in high school (vo-tech, got back too late for regular bus)...seeing those kids who were only starting school then, graduate from high school years 10-12 years later. Where did the time go?

The fact that DD turned 13 on Monday!

The thought that I may have arthritis in my back.

I've had a few...

The first time I wasn't "proofed" buying alcohol.

The first time a kid called me "m'am!" :scared1: That one REALLY hurt!

A friend of mine who just the other day was talking about himself and said...what can you do with an old man? I told him he's NOT an old man! And then I told him...I'm not old either! :scared1: :scared1: I'm 4 months OLDER than him! :faint: :scared1: :scared1:
