When using a pin are they only for the standard rooms ?

I havent gotten a pin yet but I'm still waiting or wanting a discount for October. We plan on booking a preferred room at CBR. I was wondering are the pins or discounts only for the standard rooms ?

I just used a pin on our room for August, and I could not get the discount on our standard room. We had to upgrade to a garden view room, but it still saved us money.

I used a PIN for our recent trip, and it was only good for a preferred room at our resort (I was going to be cheap and book standard, but it actually put us in the section that my family WANTED to be in, and it still saved us money)

Pins have very specific availability just like every other discount. Oftentimes, standard rooms are the ones that aren't available, because those rooms tend to sell fastest at rack rate and therefore are not available with a discount.
