When to start planning?

We decided over a year ago that our next Disney trip would be in the fall of 2003. My daughters will be 5 and 7 then. I'm pretty sure I want to stay at CR, but I'm not exactly sure which dates. How soon should I start really buckling down and making reservations? We did join the Disney Club to get those discounts for next year.

Depending on when in the fall you want to go, I would start looking soon. For certain dates the rooms can book up pretty quickly, like Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, etc. Other than those times, you can probably wait awhile. We made plans about three weeks before our mid-November and mid-December trips.

Well, I am trying to plan around the crowds. I'm considering going the first week in December (disadvantage: we probably won't be able to swim) or early October (disadvantage: having to take the kids out of school soon after they've begun the semester) or some time in November, avoiding Thanksgiving and Veteran's Day. What I want most, of course, is to take advantage of any money saving deals that are available. I don't know if that means I should plan early or wait it out.

We go the last week of September and first week of October. Crowds are light and our daughter is 7 and a first grader, she doesn't miss much in school. We got all of her homework and she got it all done while waiting to board the plane. At 5 and 7 I wouldn't worry too much about missing school unless of course you are staying 2 or 3 weeks. We usually stay 8 nights so she misses only one full week of school.

We are going the week of Thanksgiving 2003. I have already made reservations at Port Orleans Riverside for 10 days using the AAA rate. Next summer I will be looking for AP rates or code rates for that week to see if I can get a better rate. If not, at least I know I have reservations at a discounted rate ($118 tax included per night). Pick a time soon and reserve the room. You can always cancell up to 5 days before the trip and not lose your deposit. Go for it! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :D ;) :D

We just returned from 5 nights at B.C. Nov. 5-10. Unfortunately it was the Super Soap weekend at MGM ( we did not know this when we booked) and N.J. Week. It was extremely crowded on the day we went to the M.K. If you can find out when these 2 events are happening next year avoid them at all cost.
We went the 1st week of Dec. 2001 and it was perfect. No lines to speak of and the weather was great most days in the 80's and sunny. Good Luck and have a great time.
