When to reserve golf cart?

Hi all,

We are staying at FW for the first time in the beginning of March. How far in advance do you usually reserve a golf cart? I have read here that golf carts are everywhere, so I'm assuming that they typically sell out?

I am planning on finishing paying off the cabin before reserving the golf cart, but will switch that if they typically sell out quickly.

Thanks!

Hi ya NTBM.

Don't know if you are only considering a Disney golf cart or are willing to rent from an off-site cart vendor.

If you are considering a Disney cart, it is true at busy times of the year they do sell out. I was there in late March this past year and they were sold out the day I checked in. The cost is $59+tax (about $65) for a 4-seat golf cart per day. If you make the reservation, they don't charge a credit card until around the day before you arrive. There is no charge or deposit when you make the reservation. So there is no reason NOT to make it now.

If you are considering a rental cart from an off-site vendor such as Tee Time, they will take a reservation and, like Disney, charge you right before arrival. Their rate is around $40-45 per day (there is a minimum rental period of maybe 3 days?) but you have to meet the vendor off-property and make arrangements to bring the cart into the Fort yourself. Disney tries to make life hard for them since they undercut Disney rental rates. They generally have a good reputation but you have to decide if the extra effort of meeting off-property (and doing so in reverse to return the cart) is worth the financial savings.

In either case, no charge is made when you make the reservation so make one now.

Let me get this posted then I will add a link and picture.

In conclusion I will add that a golf cart is not necessary to enjoy the Fort. It is an expensive convenience. In all my trips to the Fort I've only rented one once because we had some elderly members in our party. But folks rent them because they want to but don't feel like you have to.

PS Here is a link for Tee Time. http://www.****************.com/. They have email and a phone number. People say calling in the morning gets the best results.

. . . Disney cart . . . cost is $59+tax (about $65) for a 4-seat golf cart per day . . . . . . rental cart from an off-site vendor such as Tee Time . . . rate is around $40-45 per day . . .

1) When I stay, I rent from Disney.
2) And, no, we DO NOT get a cast member discount on carts.
3) For a few bucks more, I avoid the hassles
. . . don't have to go off-site to get the cart *
. . . don't have to worry about someone grabbing it when parked
. . . for repairs (incl bad battery) people are on-site to help

* If you are getting a cart from an off-site vendor that was rented the day before
you, sometimes the cart can be left at The Fort without you having to go off-site
to get it. You just pick it up at the cart-part area.

Thank you both for the quick, helpful replies! I am going to call FW today to (hopefully) reserve one. It definitely helps to know I don't have to have the money upfront.
