When to pay for resort room only?

I know they told me it is due the day of check in. Do we need to go to the desk to pay at check in? I thought they were not wanting us to go to check in because of COVID 19.

Do you have a credit card on file with them? In the past they have charged my card in the morning before I arrive. Lately I have been using gift cards to pay so I call a few days before to use them.

The card on file will be charged. You do not need to go to the desk.

Yes we have a credit card on file with Disney.

As others have noted, assuming you've done online check-in it'll charge your card that morning when the computers flip over for the next day, 6-7am ET or so. I have charge notifications set up on my phone and always 'love' waking up that morning 1,000 miles away from Disney and seeing the charge first thing.

You can still go to the front desk when needed, they're just trying to limit it where they can. If you don't want your balance charged to your card on file, you should call in advance to make the payment. As others have mentioned, they will charge it the morning of your check-in, possibly before you arrive.
