When to order DDE card?

We will be arriving at WDW on Feb. 11th and will be activating our AP's then. We will be making a 2nd trip on these AP's in late Jan-early Feb 2007. We want to use both the AP and the DDE cards for that trip. When should I order the DDE card so that it is still valid thru Feb 2007? One other question, can I arrange to pick up the temp card at the International Gateway since we will be staying at the Beach Club Villas. We will just be getting there around lunch time and will be ready to eat. Will I have to hoof it all the way to the front of Epcot to get the card?

First of all do you have your AP voucher? Until you have either the voucher or the actual AP in hand you cannot order the card. If you do have your voucher, you can order the card now (it is after the 5th of the month) and the card will be good until 2/28/07 (but verify this when you call). If you do not have the voucher you will have a problem as the DDE office is closed on weekends and you would not be able to call them until the Monday after you arrive.

The outside Guest Services window at Epcot's front gate is the only place where you can pick up a temporary card. All that is at International Gateway is one ticket booth.

Also any meals purchased without the DDE card actually in hand cannot later be adjusted for discount. Anyway, unless you have a lunch ADR you will probably be doing a CS meal for lunch and the DDE would not be good for that.

Yes we do have our exchange vouchers. We were thinking of having a quick lunch at Beaches before going to Epcot for the evening. I thought that maybe I would be able to exchange our AP vouchers and get the DDE card at the International Gateway before we ate. No biggie, we'll just eat and then head to Epcot. Do you know how late we can pick up the DDE card on a Sat?

If you order on Monday you may get your cards just before you leave and the expire date would likely still be the same as if you wait another couple of weeks. I would call Monday and ask them what the date would be. It would save you one line to wait in.

One other question I thought of as I was getting ready for bed...oh happy disney dreams await me! Is the Guest Relations that I pick up the temp card at outside the park or the one just inside by Spaceship Earth??? I will definately call on Monday and see what they say. Thanks Loads! I'm sure you'll love using DDE. My card arrived just before my August trip. We stayed at ASMo and I was able to use the card at the food court there (but not on the refillable mug). We were only there for 3 nights and only had 2 TS meals (CP breakfast and Sci-Fi) for our party of 4 adults and 1 child and I save the then $50 fee on that trip alone. I saved tons on a family trip in Oct, am planning a quick b-day trip in May and aother family trip in Aug all on the same card.

It is outside the gates. I do remember though that the counter is either closed on Sunday or Saturday and Sunday. I can't remember exactly which it is so you need to call and ask. At least that is how it was in the summer. Have fun.

SO I haven't purchased a DDE card yet... is it possible to buy it, and get it for use on my next trip, if I am arriving on Wed 1/18? Or is it too late?

I'm not sure if the office will be open Monday as it is a holiday, but if you call Tuesday at 407-566-5858 (Press Option 2) you can order it over the phone. Tell them you need to pick up a temporary on Wednesday. They will have a temporary for you at the Guest Services window outside Epcot's Front Gates. That office is open from about a half hour before Epcot opens until closing time.
