We are going to DL in October with another family. We've already booked our trips and we are staying at DLH. We would love to get an adjoining room or at least rooms on the same floor. When should we call to make arrangements like these? Anyone have the number to call?
Thanks in advance! :) :flower:

I recommend having a notation on your reservation if possible making that request. Regardless of whether the request is stated on your reservation, call the hotel 2-3 days prior to arrival and make your request. The hotel number is 714/778-6600. I understand they make most room assignments 2 days in advance. I called 2 days ahead of my GCH arrival last week with a room request and got exactly what I was hoping for.

Thanks for the info. I will call tomorrow and see what happens! :)

I called quite a bit ahead of time.. like at least a month or so, but wanted an adjoining room and that one at least have bunkbeds.....

We did get what we asked for. I just called and they were more then accomodating.

CalGal: How did you word your request? I'm just hoping for a vanity outside the bathroom, as there are two couples. We've reserved just a standard room, and I didn't know if I dare ask for a "view?" When we stayed at the Poly, I fretted over a room request; I think it might be better to just go with the flow and accept what you're given.

I think if prioritize what you want, call them and ask if they can put down your preference for ..... room with view of.... whatever you want. We were told they would make a note on our reservation, but they could not guarantee anything.

I don't know about the DLH, but at the GC, the rooms have the vanity outside of the toilet/shower area...

I think it is best to have them note your requests on your reservation, and then call 2 days ahead and tell them on the phone. I have heard stories of people at check-in who were assigned a room and then upon inquiring whether they got their requests, the CM would look at the reservation and see that they were apparantly ingored when the room was assigned and would give them a different room.

BurleyGirl: I'm glad to see that I am not the only one stressing over a separate vanity. We have a family of 4 adults (including DD who spends 1/2 hour on her hair :earsgirl: ) and one teen, so it is important to us, too. I had them note it on my reservation, and plan to call ahead to make sure I get it.

Shele, or anyone else that can answer this as well.... I know you mentioned having bunk beds as part of your request... Are bunk beds only available at GC or do they have them a DLH? Thanks again!

My policy has been not to ask for more than I reserved, and not for too much, but to request for what is most important to me. For this trip, I wanted to be as close to the park and Grizzly River Rapids as possible. For you, it sounds like the separate vanity area is most important, and I am sure the DLH would be very happy to try to accomodate your request.

My AAA travel agent just asked WDTC to note "Grizzly Peak View preferred" when my GCH reservation was made. Then, 2 days prior to my arrival, I called the hotel number and selected the option for reservations. I believe I said something like "I will be checking in on Thursday, and I understood that if I called a couple of days ahead, that you might be more likely to be able to accomodate a room request". The CM was very very nice and asked what I wanted. I told him "I was hoping for a Grizzly Peak view, preferably fairly high, say 3rd floor or higher". I got the perfect room, 5th floor directly over the GCH entrance to DCA. It was exactly the room I would have picked if I had the choice of any non-suite room in the hotel.

I was planning on following the advice of all the great people here on the boards. I did request adjoining rooms and if possible, bunks beds in one of the rooms. Adjoining rooms is more important for us since my mom will be traveling with us and has offered to bring our soon to be 2 year old back to the room for her nap that way my husband and I can spend more time with our two older children (11, 6) riding some of the wilder rides. My 2 year old has problems settling down to nap if there is somebody else in the room so it would be perfect if my mom could put her down for a nap and then just go to her room just leaving the door ajar.

I was also planning on calling 2-3 days before our arrival date as recommended here, but does anyone know if our late arrival time (9pm)is likely to pose a problem getting our request? I know there are no quarrantees, but I was wondering if they would honor the request we make 2 days before arriving or possibly give all the adjoining rooms out to people who are able to arrive earlier in the day?

Thank you.

That sounds like all the more reason to call ahead with your request. Tell them when you call that you are arriving late. When I checked in after having made my request 2 days prior, I was under the impression that the room number had been put aside for me prior to my check-in. That doesn't mean it might not get reassigned, but calling ahead shouldn't hurt. Good luck!

Make sure when you call, to request "connecting" rooms if you want a door in between them. I believe that "adjoining" rooms might also refer to rooms that are next to each other but not necessarily with a connecting door.

Sorry, I am not sure, but I think the GC is the only one with the bunk bed rooms...

We arrived pretty late the night we came in - our flight was delayed and the shuttle ride was long.. I think we got there about 9...

They had our requests and rooms ready.. no problem. I have heard they assign the rooms a few days in advance.

Shelebeen is right, there are no bunkbeds at the DLH. They do however have daybeds in many rooms and you can request a rollaway for free. If you want a room with a daybed you need to call the hotel and make that request. But again, even if you don't get a daybed room you can get a rollaway. I once had a castmember tell me that I didn't need to request that since they are free and they have so many they can't run out. My kids think the rollaways are more comfy than the daybeds.
