When to make a reservation?

Hi everyone! How soon before your vacation should you call and make resevations? If I can get a good deal then we can go sooner than our projected date. And how do you find a good deal? I booked through a travel agent for our last (first) trip and am sure we paid full rice for everything!

I would call as soon as you know what dates you want & what resorts etc. You keep checking back here if any codes or specials are out or sign up for these two sites.

I use to use a travel agent but now I do it myself. I know a lot of people use certain ones recommend on this board & other two web sites above.

If I hold out for a special deal like they are running now for March through May what is the likelyhood that you get the resort that you want for your stay?

I guess the special now is just for park hopper, what I mean is if I wait for a resort room special what is the chance I will be able to get it? Do they limit the number of rooms available for the discount? Or limit the length of stay?

Just do the best price comparison. Directly through Disney was the cheapest for me....

I check with AAA and all of those other ones before.....

Mousesavers has a list of historical discounts given by Disney. If you book with a TA like Dreams Unlimited, they will keep checking to see if your ressie is eligible for a discount as it is announced by Disney Then they can do all the footwork for you. Also, if you want the AAA discount on a package you would have to book through them, but if you only want the AAA room rate you can book through Disney or another TA.

Yes, they do limit the number of rooms offered for the discount (not how many you can book but how many they offer with the discount). Depending on the resort, they might want you to stay more than one night. The best thing to do is book as soon as you know when you are going. If you see a discount, call about it right away. They do go fast but they certainly aren't impossiable to get. We usually are always able to get the discounts offered if we book right away.
