When to go??

Hi,
We're planning a trip to Ca. next year. We're planning 2 wks flying into san fran coming home from san diego. We are thinking either early May or late Oct. We would like to visit as many parks as we can SFMM, KBF, DL, US.... It's just the two of us, no kids ( so no school sched to worry about). Which would you recomend? Thanks

Why are you flying into SF, if all the parks you want to visit are in So Cal? Are you also planning on visiting attractions in Nor Cal?

Of the two options I would go with the late October.

Late October is a great time to go, but the parks close earlier during that time, and 6 Flags Magic Mountain is only open on the weekends, I think. If you want to see the Haunted Mansion Nightmare Before Christmas makeover, then go in October.

On the other hand, everything is in bloom in May, so it's a pretty time to come out here.

San Francisco has unpredictable weather, so whether you go in May or October you may have nice weather, or may not.

Just a note from a person living in SF. The best weather for SF is late September early October. We always have about 2 weeks of beautiful weather (80's- 90's). Usually it starts to get cold the week before Halloween.


May can be windy, foggy and cold or sunny and warm. Of course it could be both on the same day depending on where you are in SF and the Bay Area.

If your planning trips to the parks(Marin World, Great America, Busch Gardens) up here in SF I believe in May or October they will only be open on the weekends . They are only open during the week when kids our out of school for the summer.
