When to go?

Hi,

I know this question probably gets asked all the time and I do a search if I could. We are travelling from Australia with a 3yr old and 5.5yr old. This is our 3rd trip to WDW. We've been in Nov/Dec and Feb. This time around we are trying to decide between Late sept/early Oct (school holidays here) or Nov (to see xmas decoration but didn't like the crowds during Thanksgiving week - we need to be back early Dec) or maybe Jan (after xmas crowds go down (school holidays). We really love the xmas decorations but also like to get in a bit of swimming. We are planning on 2.5 weeks, probably staying off site. Any opinions/advice most welcome.

Libby -

I'm also a repeat visitor and struggling with this issue as well. We went both in Oct and Nov previous times and had a great time. Good luck!

I think early October would be a good choice. The crowds wouldn't be bad so touring wouldn't be hard on your little ones or you.The weather would be fine for a swim,it can get down right hot that time of year.If you could time your visit to end Friday after Thanksgiving you would only have a few days of huge crowds, the crowds really drop off after Thanksgiving weekend. That way you could see all the holiday shows and decorations and only have to deal with large crowds 4 days during your stay. The days leading up to Thanksgiving are not to crowded.:wave2:

This year we went in mid November (before thanksgiving), January (right after new years), May (beginning), Sept. (late) and Oct. (late). Crowd wise Sept. was the best, crowd and weather wise I'd have to say November. I don't like the extreme heat! In past years we've always been in the beginning of December and it's still my favorite time.

Late September & Early October are great months with nice short lines.

September is one of the best months to go. The crowds are light, the weather is nice and hot, and evenings are cool, but not cold. It is my second favorite month to go.

(May is my absolute favorite (early to mid-May to avoid the Memorial Day crush). But it doesn't sound like that works for you.

Good luck!

We LOVE October because it is warm, low 80's, enough to swim and do the water parks, not humid, and not sweltering in the parks. The crowds are manageable and the food and wine festival is going on.
