If you had to choose between the following weeks, which would you choose and why:

November 13-20, 2012
November 20-27
November 27-December 4

The first week or so of November is out due to DH's work. Any of those weeks listed abouve would work for us, but the week of Thanksgiving I know DD will have at least 3 days off from school, thus we'd only be taking her out for 4 days. I'm a little leary of crowds, though, the weekend after Thanksgiving and it will be our DS's first trip, so don't want to have an overly crazy crowd time if we can help it. That being said, DS will turn 3 on November 28th, so going down for his bday and being there on the actual day might be kind of neat and also I understand the Christmas Parade at MK is taped during the first weekend of December. So, lots to decide. What are your thoughts??

The Saturday before to the Sunday after Thanksgiving is, according to Disney,a time when crowds are large. Not Easter or Christmas large, but up there.

I'd say the crowds drop the Monday after Thanksgiving, with most people preferring to take their kids out of school the week of and miss less time. The Friday after Thanksgiving is the official start of the holiday season at WDW, with the Candlelight Processional at Epcot starting and the trees going up fairly quickly. You are right about the parade taping at MK usually being the first weekend in December, but that really only impacts MK and on those days, so you can avoid it if you wish.

If you go the week before Thanksgiving, the crowds should be lower, I'd say around the same as the week after minus the new Christmas offerings (though MVMCP will be happening at the time).

Thanks for your replies. We are leaning towards the week after Thanksgiving, since we've never been at Christmas and would love to see all the decorations. Not sure how my lil man will handle it all, so thinking MVMCP will probably be out till the kids are older (they are and will be 2 & 5 for this trip, with my 2 yo turning 3 on Nov. 28). We hope to catch some of the new FL attractions, too.

I'll keep checking the boards. Somewhere I have a thread bookmarked about Christmas time at DW, I'll have to find it.

Thanks again!:)

Definately not your third option, since that's when we're thinking of going. :)

As for MVMCP, the park closes a little early that day for the MVMCP crowd. This means it's less crowded on MVMCP days until then. With young kids who may have trouble lasting past dinner anyway, that's an excellent day to do the park.

You're killin' me kohlby!:cutie: We usually have 2 MK days planned anyway, so the early closure shouldn't interfere with our plans too bad, but it's certainly something to consider.

I would pick November 13-20. We were there last year during this time and it was great. The Christmas decorations were up, the weather was great, and the crowds were low. We also got free dining. They all sound like they would make for a great trip. :goodvibes Of course, anytime in WDW is a great time.

We've done thanksgiving week as well as the week after thanksgiving, and much prefer the week after.
thanksgiving week isn't too crowded until wednesday, and thanksgiving day in MK was PACKED.
the week after is one of our favorite times to visit, but because of DD's school schedule, we're planning a trip for thanksgiving week this year, and will avoid MK on turkey day.

We've been there during jersey week, which was the week with veterans day, and the week of thanksgiving.
I enjoyed the week of thanksgiving more as it was decorated for the holidays. The beginning of the week was slow, but later in the week was too busy for me. I've heard the week after thanksgiving is great, and I would love to try that.
Less crowds and decorated for the holidays, winning!!!

Nov. 27 - Dec. 4 would be our choice. That is the time that we went on our last trip and we were going to do the same this time, but hubby is a retail manager now and can't take any time off from Thanksgiving through New Year's, so we had to pick a different time to go.

Weather was great. Crowds were very reasonable and the only day we ran into any headache crowds were probably when we went to MK the day of the parade taping. We knew it would be crazy,

And a tip about the parade, unless you are part of the pre-selected group, you will not be allowed to remain anywhere near the parade route. You will be behind the crowd working your way into the park and then when you want to leave, they actually routed us out behind main street to the main entrance. And if you attempt to stop, they will tell you to keep moving. I don't remember exactly how it works, but I think you have to register to be considered to be part of the crowd well in advance of the taping date. And they also ask that you dress in holiday attire.

They also do some filming of the performances at the castle the day before the parade taping. We were there for that also.

I went the second week in Nov in 08 and it was great weather and low crowds nice time to go.

In 2010 went the saturday after Thanksgiving until the following sat.and it was colder with higher crowds but still a nice time to go.

Now I would love to go the second week of Dec to see what that week would be like and also maybe a week later in oct and am week in march so I could decide for myself the best time to go is lol
